Questions about my Hoosier Slicks..
Questions about my Hoosier Slicks..
Ok guys I got a few questions..
In my basement I have a set of Hoosier slicks that have about 80% rubber left on them, so they're in pretty good shape, and I was wondering if they would fit my wheels.
The slicks are 10.0/27.0 - 15. Which tells me they are 10 inches wide, 27 inches tall, and fit a 15" rim.
My Z28 has 15's, but I personally think they are too skinny for these slicks. My street tires now are P215/65R/15, although I know I can fit a 235 series tire on them.
I think the slicks are too wide for my wheel, anybody know for sure?? Thanks in advance

Better double check that tire size. I see no Hoosier slicks in a 27" height.
The 10" wide is across the tread. The section width will be wider.
The 215/65R15 tires are 26" tall. Most factory rims are 7" wide. A 26x10 slick should be on a 9-10" wide rim however it could still fit on a 7". A 28x10 slick needs a 8-10" rim.
Going from a factory 26" tall tire to a 27" tall tire would be like changing 3.73 gears to 3.42's. You'll get better mileage but will reduce the off the line performance.

These slicks are a couple years old, that might be why you never heard of the 27's. I am absolutely positive they're 27" though.
Came off a '68 Camaro that was all done up.
Thanks for the info

MT ET Drag slicks 28 x 9 are really 27.3" tall. You can't go by what's on the side of the tire. You need to see the tire specs to get the true dimensions.
I needed a 29" tall tire and MT doesn't make one. The closest "true" tire height was 29.9 with their 29.5" tire. That's why I went with Hoosiers. Even with the 29 x 9 slicks that I use, they grow to about 30". I had to do some fender trimming after the first pass this year. Just a bit too much tire smoke going down the track.
