Almost! Except for that you'd want the 2.56's that were in my '81 Camaro!! How does ~75 MPH in 1st gear sound??? (with a TH350 ... 2.52:1 1st gear). Behind a 6-speed, that would be crazy top-speed potential!

Actually, I'm running 3.90's right now, but I might be putting in a set of 3.23's (they're a more ideal ratio for a couple of the road courses I like to run, due to the potential to run ~135 MPH in 4th gear, vs. only ~120 MPH ..... to avoid shifting to 5th).

On a stock-ish car power-wise, it'll be fine. It's not ideal from a performance standpoint, but you're not going to damage the car.

On a car with lots of power, you can break things by letting it shift into OD -- those gears are often not as strong as the lower gears.

From an ideal performance standpoint, mdacton nailed it: no matter what you're racing, you want to finish at the top of the powerband in your 1:1 gear, whatever that may be.

heres a great place to figure out your gears
http://www.f-body.org/gears/

4.10s with a 28" tire would put you at 116 at the top of 3rd, 373s with a 26 will put you at 117

Depends upon the stance of the car and the wheel tire choice. My car sits quite high and doesn't squat on launch. I have 15x8 Prostars with a 5.5'' backspacing and run 275-60x15 Hoosier drag radials (which are 28'' tall) and I have no clearance issues at all. No banging, cutting, fender rolling at all.

I was a dummy when I fit the 28s under my car for the first time... I was at the track and the first time trial was coming right up and it was a points day and I was in contention for first place...

NEVER do something untried for the first time in a competition setting that you do not absolutely have to do if you actually want to be successful.

Of couse they didn't fit... It took a sharp knife and a little sweat equity but I manually hacked off the bottom front and rear of the outside wheelwells and whacked back the twisted metal supports with a hammer.

Anyway, I made the first time trial, and then got lucky and won the race.

when dealing w/ a 28" tire, it is a VERY good ideal to have fully adjustable LCA's
