With the correct suspension you could do it with minor bolt ons.

My cousin's 96 Caprice weighs 4050lbs, runs 13.6's @ 98mph cutting 1.7 - 1.8 60's Weld draglite 15x5 in the front and yanks the wheel about 1-2" off the ground.

Wheels, no. Maybe the left front (wheel) about a 1/16 of an inch.

Re: Pulling the wheels off the ground?

And i'd highly doubt that you get it off of the ground with a car that's dropped 2"

Re: Pulling the wheels off the ground?

I was just wondering, I really don't want it to. I'm more concerned with it hooking and coming straight out of the whole.just wondered if it could pull a wheel

Re: Pulling the wheels off the ground?

Well my car with ET street radials my car yanks the driver tire about 8-10inches off the ground on a 150shot with a CC306 and heavily ported LT1 heads. The suspension is mostly stock with the only mods being Hal's up front with relocation brackets and LCA's out back. The best 60's are 1.58 on motor and 1.49 on a 150shot. It's also pulls the driver tire on motor a couple inches depending on track conditions. Down at the bottom of the page is a recent pic of my car leaving on a 1.52 60' but it spun a little so it didn't lift the tires. http://www.fotomotion.biz/louisiana/index.htm?10 Later

Re: Pulling the wheels off the ground?

F body guys are funny. Usually they are more concerned with adding HP and going to the track on street tires backed with a stock suspension. The power is already there and the suspension setup is what needs to be addressed. I dyno less than 290RWHP an yank both 17" stocker of the ground by a few inches.

Do your homework. Do you want to be fast on the open highway or dust everyone light to light?

I am pleased to say that even with a low 1.5 sixty foot time the wheels stay straight and the left one only rises a few inches off the pavement. Any energy expended going up is better spent going ahead.

Re: Pulling the wheels off the ground?

Both of my wheels come off of the ground about 8' due to the wolfe antiroll bar out back. That is cutting 1.48s to 1.51s on motor. Cut 1.7s last time out Time for bigger tires

Copy and paste that. 277rwhp. Stock suspension on E/T Streets. It's not yanking them, but it looks like it's getting damn close.

This concludes my worthless contribution to this post.

Re: Pulling the wheels off the ground?

I agree with tnthub. I only want a few inches off the ground to help with weight transfer but normally want them to stay down as much as possible. Energy created by the engine needs to do many things. The more energy used to propel the car forward, the quicker you will go. If energy is used to bring the front end up too high then it's wasted energy.

The easiest way to have the front end come off the ground is to reduce the front weight and/or more the engine back about a foot or so.

When you see Super Stock cars getting 3 feet of front end travel, it looks impressive but their suspension is nothing like stock suspension. It's all about gearing, torque multiplication, weight transfer and traction.

Watch a SuperGas car running a 9.90 index. Their front wheels never leave the ground.
