Pete Z bars
Re: Pete Z bars
Excellent pieces, once you get them adjusted you won't need to touch them again. Appletree Enterprises in NY makes them.
Be sure you have the car sitting level and with the drivers weight in place when you adjust the links.

What do you need to know. When set up correctly they work great. They ar STIFF if you want to take tht sucka on the street and leave them hooked up. Stock elem guys run them and you see what they do with em. I would talk to someone like madman or the people who sell them on how to set them up corectly. Also..with the advances in suspension technology(madman, bmr) I think you can hook just has hard with some of the very high end torque arm setups...which you still have to run some kind of torque arm(stock with mods) with the z-bar setup.
Ask away and I will try to answer your questions.

Re: Pete Z bars
I haven't seen these before (you learn something new every day) and they look very mechanically sound. However, if you already have an adjustable torque arm (i.e. Spohn) I wonder how much they will help on the launch (with both)? Who is running both and how do they work?

Re: Pete Z bars
I'm pulling mine off to setup up for a narrowed rear end and minni-tubed setup. yes, people still use them. I used them with a bmr extreme bar and went a best of 1.42 in a 6 speed. that was boggin also. I know the car had a 1.3x in it. Very nice setup. If anyone is looking for this pm me..mine should be coming off this week.
Re: Pete Z bars
I have a homemade set just like them sort of.
http://www.teamandersonracing.com/Pi.../PeteZCopy.htm
The biggest difference is the connection on the rear, I have 1/4" tabs that are welded to the rear section.
What's nice is no more rear sway bar and no more right side air bags. The car is what you called preloaded. Just ignore the sway bar in the pics, I did not remove it yet. This is when I just got the bars in place.
To set the preload on the rear is you looseing the rear up (includes shocks), set the driver in the driver seat and adjust the bars so they are not binded up. You do this by turning the bars clock wise or counter clock wise. Once you have done this connect the rear shocks back up and take it to the track. Once to the track practice you launches and adjust the bars when needed. You might have to make some adjustments to the bars once at the track but most of the time this will get you in the ballpark.
