ONLY been to the strip thrice with lt1... and this doesn't seem right... too fast?

my mods are complete as in sig...

when i first started dragging i was told to powerbrake at the line to about 2000 and up to adjust launch... and floor it... when i watch pro drag racing.... they are WOT right off the line... ( i can see their TB open all the way)

well this doesn't work.... i've found that the only way to keep traction is to hit the gas gently at first.. then SLOWLY bring it to the floor over about 1..mississippi..2..mississippi...3...missi...floor

other wise.. i spin like theres no tomarrow...

now this is what makes it weird

i have 2:73's... an automatic... 255 tires that are VERY sport compound... and have a horrific treadwear rating... (250)...
all on a basically stock car...
anyway... first time at the track EVER... poor traction.. i got a 2.6 60 foot... (not including my .9854 reaction time) ...
and i pulled a 13.93 at 103.57 it was 55 degrees, no humidity, and about 600 feet elevation

also... i hightened the air pressure in my tires to 38 (cold) in the front... and lowered them to 20psi (cold) in the rear...
i have posi... or limited slip or whaever you call it...
and i did a decent burnout before the run to heat up/clean off my tires... the car was also at operating temp. when i ran (didn't know at the time to keep it cool)

do i have a freak car?!?!

You had some really good air. Go again when it's 80° and 80% humidity and you'll see what I mean.
Good runs for whatcha got

let's see if i understand this correctly, you have K&N and a flowmaster and run 13.9's and are complaining?

Your car isnt a freak, you had really good weather and a car that isnt beat 1/2 to death.

My car ran 13.83 stock (removed air filter from factory box),after a few runs to figure out how to launch it.

Lightbulb I concur with these learened gentlemen...

... Ya got some good air and your LT1 liked it! I would say probably 80% of the cars with your combo would have been in the same ball park as you. They however ARE good numbers for the car and you can be proud!

I have the same car as yours, save for mine is a Z. Mine went a best of 13.6 @ 102 with a 2.0 60ft when bone stock. That's definatly not the norm, but a few cars have run in those #s.

If you're not exagerating with your 60ft, then I would say you definately have the potential to go 13.5-.6. You obviously have the MPH. That 60 you showed is absolutely ****-poor. Drop that down to a 2.0-.1, and you've theoretically got .2-.4 off your 1/4 ET.

Also, doing a burn out with radials is not only pointless, but more often than not, it does more harm than good. Try a couple of dry hops after you drive AROUND the burn out box, and you should be set to go. BTW, I have the best success launching by just leaving off idle.

If he jroped his 60' down to the 2.0 range, that's about a 13.3

2.6 60' time, did i read that right If you cut a 13.9 on a 2.6, going down to a 2.0-2.1 would put you in the 12's.
.15-.2 tenths in the 1/4 for every tenth in the 60'

thats what im saying!...

i actually got paranoid thinking that it may have some mods that are hiddden... that weren't mentioned when i bought it so that i wouldn't know it was "fooled around with"... i was think RR's or even a cam... cause of a kinda rough idle... i had a mechanic friendof mine do some looking and driving... and he said he doubted i had those mods... but the only way to kow for sure was to tear it apart... so i decided against it...

I would definitely say that you have some hidden mods. Your trap speed is about 3-4 mph too high for a car with your mods. With a 2.00 60' you would go 12s with that car. You said that you brake torqued it up to 2000 rpms? The stock torque converter is 1800 rpms, which means that you'd have been spinning the tires. I'd say you've got a stall and possibly a small cam in that thing, maybe more.

103.5 MPH will not go 12s on a 2.0 60 foot unless the car is lightened.
I ran a 100 13.dohs at 105+ on 2.0 60s at 3590 lbs.

I'm thinking his trap speed will increase a bit if he hooks up.

It rarely does. In fact, most cars with better traction lose MPH.

I would say I lose near 1 mph for every tenth I gain in 60ft

That is what I am thinking. I can see a m6 car turning that mph with these mods but then again, he did have a terrible 60'. I have seen cars spin forever but once they go through the traps, the mph is way high. I figure he would run a 13.4 with a 2.0 60'. When my car ran 104, I ran 13.4 with a about a 2.19 60'. I have run a best so far of 13.1@107 with a 2.05 60', so he will definately need more mph.

Exactly.

No doubt is Frmula1's car fast for its mods and weather condition, but I think the clocks were wrong at the track.

Kind of like my local 1/8 mile track. The trap speeds on the timeslips are very generous. At Darlington I generally trap 86-88mph in the eigth. At my local 1/8 mile track it says I trap 95-97mph.
