One step closer to the Bolt-on LT1 record

The weather was decent today and I wanted to tweek with my tune as well as tune the suspension so I hit a Test & Tune session at my local track...

I was happy when right off the trailer and todays baseline looked like this:

60' ... 1.676
330 .. 4.968
1/8 ... 7.752
MPH . 87.98
1000 10.150
1/4 ... 12.161
MPH . 112.64

A few changes got me to:

60' ... 1.655
330 .. 4.932
1/8 ... 7.704
MPH . 88.28
1000 10.100
1/4 ... 12.107
MPH . 112.76

Playing with it a little more got me to 12.0's, an by this point it was well into the afternoon and hotter:

60' ... 1.642
330 .. 4.921
1/8 ... 7.694
MPH . 88.36
1000 10.085
1/4 ... 12.088
MPH . 112.99

I followed that up with another new best of:

60' ... 1.639
330 .. 4.910
1/8 ... 7.684
MPH . 88.29
1000 10.076
1/4 ... 12.078
MPH . 113.16

Just another lightweight bolt-on LT1 car...

That's pretty quick for a bolt-on car man, Gratz
Do you know what it's weighing in at ?

The last time I weighed it we were at 3190 with me in the car, that was a few weeks ago, I think today it might have been +- 5# today depending on fuel level. The car itself is about 2975 depending on fuel level, and I try to only keep between .5 - 1.5 gal. in the tank, but one time today I lost track of the number of runs I had and ran out of gas in the staging lanes, with keeping it that low the gage is alway on empty...

Wow, that's light LOL.
I was looking at some of your pics on another site, nice work man.
Mine's a pig compared to that.
I worry a little about you keeping the tank that low, it seems like the fuel pump might overheat.
Then again, that's an extra 10-20lbs you don't have to lug around.
(I run with about 4gal)

Great times though. keep up the good work

Damn that car is light I wish mine was that light, then she'd be on the bumper for sure. Nice times for the mods.

just the simple stuff, front bumper support, carpet, seats, and little things. I'm about 235lbs, so that puts the car at around 3150, so if I could knock another 150lbs off I'd be happy. Just like it sits it should run high 6.60's this fall and I think I need to have it retuned again, it's a tad lean for what I need.

Ok I was getting the car ready for my race tomorrow, and decided to change the oil since I honestly don't remember when I last did it, well I was working off the 3000 miles thing but forgot that I don't drive the car on the street anymore... So I decided to try royal purple, it is actually purple oil , and when changing it the old stuff was black, and when I pulled off the oil filter I found that it was the same one in there when I installed the headers last year in May because there are still marks on it from the header install...

I also checked my fuel filter, and it was pretty dirty too, and realize it hasn't been changed in over 4 years...

I guess we'll see what tomorrow holds since I actually did some maintenance on this damn car, I wonder if this would be enough for 11's, I guess only the weather will tell...

I pulled the pan this last winter after running RP oil and will never use it again. It had an 1/8'' of black coating on the windage tray and the pan bottom after just 2 seasons of using it. Keep in mind that my car goes one season on the oil, that's 100 miles. Never had that with other oils.
