Nitto's vs. BFG Drag Radials!
Nitto's vs. BFG Drag Radials!
Can anyone give me some good advice on which of these tires hook up better. I have heard really good things about both. My main thing is i can get the Nitto's, mounted and balanced for about $80 less than the BFG's. I would really like to hear from someone that has tried out both tires, but any advice would help!!!
If you're going to use them mostly on the street, don't get the Nittos. I can get smoke from them just by dropping clutch around 3K in 2nd gear... on a stock engine. :P
I've heard the BFGs hook up great, but have never tried them.

I have personally used BFG Drag Radials and MT ET Streets but never Nittos. I heard nittos work better on the street than on the track. My MT Et Streets got alot better grip then my BFG's, BFG's would probably be the better choice over the Nittos.
I'd save the 80 bucks. I used to run BFG drag radials and switched to ET Streets for more launch consistency because I bracket race. Drag radials are much better than street tires but they are not in the class of ET Streets or slicks. They are perfect for the person who wants to drive around a bit make a few passes at the track, and doesn't want to trailor or change tires.
How do you get an estimated 1/8 mile time?
How do you get an estimated 1/8 mile time?
Thanks for the info everyone. I got my estimated 1/8 time with nitrous and drag radials, from knowing what it runs on motor. It runs 8.6's and 8.7's on motor with street tires. Im thinking i can hit 7.6's or at least 7.7's with the nitrous and some good drag radials. I will definately post my times as soon as i get the tires for christmas! Im still debating on which tires to get.
LT1ponykilla, I think you a pretty close with your estimated times. From what I have seen, and with my car, you can expect a good .8-1 second gain in the eigth with a 150 shot. You will just need some good 60ft times.
i use Nitto drags and with them i dropped almost .3 off my ET went from 2.4 60s to 2.15s, on stock gears, on the street they r good, IF WARM!!!!!! if those things are cold, u will spin them! i have been racing on the street and had them break lose at about 60 in mid range rpm, kinda weird, but for track use, Nittos are good because they last for a good long time, i ahve had mine 4 over a yr and they just keep hooking better.
Thanks for the info sax and onefast! With my 4.10 gear I'm probably gonna be just running a 75 shot depending on how my tires hook up. I actually put a 125 shot on my car after the i rode with the 75 shot for a while, and the 75 hit alot harder. Maybe it was because i wasnt spinning as bad and I was getting the power to the road. I believe im gonna try out the Nitto's for now and just see for myself how they are. It's not like I'm having to pay for them anyways, its a christmas present.
I never have had the BFG's but I have had my nitto's for about 3.5 yrs now. They hook great on the street and on the track. Just be sure to do a burn out first and they will hook!
They are stable also in excess of 150MPH. I have about 40K on mine. They are bald but still hook.

Have tried the 315 BFG DR's and the Nitto DR's. The Nitto's are good street tires but need a John Force burnout to have a chance of a good 60' time at the track. If you want to run in the mid 7's in the 1/8 mile and in the 11's in the 1/4 mile, you'll probably need a 1.7 60' time. Getting this with the Nitto's is very hard. If the track is really prepped, you might have a chance. If your happy with 1.9-2.0 60' times, get the Nitto's. I'm selling my Nitto's and going back to the BFG's. ET Streets are really the way to go if you do not mind changing tires at the track. JMHO.
Ok, what are some other people getting for 60 ft times with nittos? 1.9 and 2.0???come on.....I get consistent 1.9's on all season rsas. With nittos I think that 1.8s and high 1.7s are more common. I guess it depends on driver skill.
