Nitrous & Vert

Is the trunk area of a Vert considered an area of the passenger compartment per NHRA?

I think a sharp tech inspecter would see it's just a plastic panel seperating the trunk from the intieror. I think with a blow down tube your legal. NHRA came out last week with new cage requirments for verts, 11.99 and faster need a cage

Thanks drop top steve, I plan on adding one. But won't have time before this weekend.

And I thought it was 13.99 or better for a Vert?

Thanks for the reply KTamez. I'll check it out.

Ed, at 13.99 you'll need a roll bar.

10.99 will require a full roll cage.

Good luck!

Steve I JUST emailed ya. I'm looking at both the 02 rulebook and the Digger right here in front of me.

I just made your day. You owe me a beer.

He!l, lets make it a case, KT is right (as usual) 10.99 and faster requires full cage. I misread the digger, damn fine print, I know, old men need glasses.

Well, the appointment is made for the cage to go in (in January) and I am actually glad that I have to do it. Jim Salemi at Gforce race cars is fabricating and installing it. It won't be cheap but it will be done right. When I read about John Lingenfelter accident and think about my 4,000lb convertible going 140+ mph between two concrete barriers the cage seems a comforting thought.

It's a big relief that swingouts are legal, that's why I finally decided to go for it. Without them, it really wouldn't be compatible with street use, With 'em I think it won't be a problem.

Rich,

After you mentioned G-Force I happened upon their website while I was searching the web for something else. It looks as though they definetly have a grasp on NHRA rules, and I'm sure you'll probably have a nice end product.

Good luck!
