NHRA's new rules for 2005

I don't know if anybody is interested, but I just snipped this directly from the NHRA website:

Adjustment to E.T. requirements
In a move designed to encourage more street vehicles to compete on the quarter-mile, NHRA has revised its requirements for roll bars, SFI Spec clutches, driveshaft loops, driver restraints, and certain protective clothing.

Beginning Jan. 1, 2005, a roll bar and an SFI 16.1 driver-restraint system will be mandatory on any vehicle running 11.49 or quicker and for convertibles running 13.49 or quicker. An SFI 3.2A/1 jacket will be mandatory for all drivers in vehicles running between 10.00 to 11.49 seconds. On any car running 11.49 or quicker, a flywheel and clutch meeting SFI Spec 1.1 or 1.2 and a flywheel shield meeting SFI Spec 6.1, 6.2, 6.3, or 9.1 will be mandatory. A driveshaft loop will be required on all cars running 13.99 or quicker and utilizing slicks, except vehicles equipped with street tires running 11.49 or slower.

That's good, but considering I usually run at an IHRA track and their rules have been like that - and I don't run under 12.00 anyway - I guess I don't have to worry about it

Thats great to hear, I was looking at which cage to put in, but when I add the nitrous I'll need it anyway.

I need a DS loop since I will be running slicks next season. I will also prolly need to do a cage since I will be adding heads and nitrous to the car during the summer after the rear gets put in.

What kind of jacket do they require?

It needs to be SFI 3.2A/1 rated. There are many manufacturers. Simpson, G-Force, RCI, just to name a few. Mine is a G-Force.

Holy Shiznit! That's awesome. Deep 11's with no cage? That's gonna open up a whole new world for me. I wonder if my local track will start a little early?

Cool, no cage needed until N20. Then I'll be doing it anyway for safety reason.

Uh oh. I'm being told by others that this is only good for bone stock vehicles. You might want to check with your local track to be sure.
