New Track Times
New Track Times
I was a little dissapointed with my times and trap speed. I am getting KR as soon as I launch the car which causes the car to bog badly. I verified this with my datamaster log. Once the KR is gone the car takes off hard and everything feels good from there on.
On the first run I launched at 2200rpm and let the clutch out rather quick which caused the car to bogged really bad. The second run I launched at 2500 rpm and feathered the clutch a little more with a much better reaction time and 60'. The track was really sticky since the ET Street and Pro Mod cars layed a good coating of rubber and excellent track prep. I should have launched at a higher rpm, but didn't want to burn up my clutch and grenade the stock rear end gear.
My timing from 800-2500rpm is 26° and increases incrementally to 33°. I lowered my timing today in this range and the car now dosen't bog off the line anymore.
These times are on street tires (stock 245 GS-Cs), stock clutch and gear.
I tried my 58mm TB and the car ran terrible and my trap speed decreased by 2mph.

Re: New Track Times
You need to work on those 60's. I ran 12.80's back in the day with my Hotcam setup and stock heads with zero suspension work on radial tires. The mph you are making is good for lower 12's but it will take some 1.7 60's to get there. Goodluck Later Clint
Re: New Track Times
I know my 60' times are pretty bad. I'm sure I can get them down into the 1.9-2.0 range on street tires. I'm going to be installing 4.10 gear and nittos that should get me in the 1.7-1.8 range. Just not sure this stock clutch is going to last long beating on the car.
How much abuse do you guys think the stock clutch can take?

Re: New Track Times
My mph is low and I think it could be a combination of incorrect low rpm timing and hot/humid weather. I am getting split blms at idle and WOT (128/140 +/- a few counts) on top of my knock retard (7°).
Re: New Track Times
I am either going to get some BFG or nittos to go along with my 4.10s that are getting installed in the next month.
I would like to fix some of the bugs that my car has so its running to its full potential.
