New Times! DA 6000+!
New Times! DA 6000+!
well, I must say it was a very humid day, and hot out here in the desert at 3300ft. I stripped the car of lots of weight this time, was tired of crappy times. Nitto 555rs and a 12 bolt is ok, still need more traction though.
My best run :
60': 2.064
330: 5.708
1/8: 8.714
mph: 81.87
1000: 11.293
1/4: 13.459
mph: 104.49
Humidity : 80% (raining less than 10 miles away)
barometric P: 30.22
temp: 80deg
altitude: 3300ft
using http://www.stangbangerz.com/modules....h&file=density it says
12.49@112
is that accurate? or should I use a different calculation? would I ever run near that at ennis ?
thx

Re: New Times! DA 6000+!
Seems close to me, its funny, my car would go 107 traps down here in the swamp with no cam, i would hate to be up high trapping like 96, id feel slow. Get that thing near sea level.
Re: New Times! DA 6000+!
Not sure on the accuracy of that calculator but at least it's something to use as comparrisons.
My calculations only give you a corrected run of 12.837@109.9 mph
My calculations also put you at a density altitude of 5453 feet.
Vapor pressure is 2.796 kPa. Anything higher than 1.000 is really terrible air. Even I've never had to race in air that bad. Very hot and muggy. Too much moisture in the air.
Both these calculations are only theoretical numbers based on what's called a standard day. Even at a sea level track you may never see a standard day.

Re: New Times! DA 6000+!
yah I appreciate you using your calculations too, that is the best calculations I have found yet, and I was just hoping it will be in 12s at sea level.
this altitude is really starting to get to me, trust me. 13s after as much as ive spent on the car is really getting old.. just need to learn to launch and I bet 12s are possible out here w/ a little more weight reduction.
thanks for the info guys

Re: New Times! DA 6000+!
You're like me. Any race day below 5000 feet DA is good air
I went to Yakima Wa a couple of years ago. I think the DA was about 1800 feet. The engine sounded so much crisper and the car ran so much better at the lower altitude.
For me, any other regional track I visit is at a lower altitude.
I always like to tell people to have a 12 second street car here is a fast car. Having a 12 second street car at sea level is no big thing.
Getting over 100 mph at altitude is also a big thing especially with your 104 mph. That's not just squeeking in.

Re: New Times! DA 6000+!
yah, I started racing at ennis, then moved to lubbock. not liking this altitude, but at least if i correct it I know my car is fast hehe
I really do need to learn to launch though, how do I get those 60' down?
what is best suspension mods to do? I only have adjustable LCAs...

Re: New Times! DA 6000+!
I have ladder bars since it's a track only car.
Get an adjustable torque arm. At least you'll be able to adjust the pinion angle with it. Adjustable LCA and panhard bar don't allow any sort of performance tuning to the suspension. They're strictly alignment devices. LCA relocation brackets would help though.
