Thumbs up New Time!!!

I ran a 12.4 in the 1/4 and 7.9 in the 1/8th yestarday. Just your basic bolt-on, cam, lt1 with drag radials....I cut a 1.75 60'.

Now how can I get into the 11's? I dont want nitrous (but Im not above it), cant afford heads, so what is left? skinnies, front suspension, what?

Those are very respectable times for a bolt on Hot Cam car. Just a few questions though, are you running slicks, and also what was your trapspeed. What did you dyno when you got it dyno tuned

Thanks...but I want a 12.00 et.

No im not running slicks, instead im running nitto 555s extreme drag radials. I dynoed like 315 rwhp and 325 rwtq... granted it was breaking up (at like 5500) bc of a bad opti, so I dont really know, but it cant be much more than that.

Right now my goal is a 1.6x 60' and a 12.00 et.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Pride

last time I went to the dirt track (92?) I thought that the drag strip was 1/8. Did they extend the track?

looked it up on the net 1/4 mile that's great . used to get to the dirt track in @ 1 hour cutting through the military reservation now id have to go through spring lake, might go there when others are at Rockingham (sneaky run) I had completely forgot about the old Cumberland co. drag way .

stupid question, Is it still behind the airport?

Well if you can't do heads and don't want to try nitrous...yet, weight reduction will be your best bet. It looks like you already have all of the boltons I can think of.

Every car needs a 100 shot. I don't care if you said you don't want it...It's a fact. Every car needs a 100 shot. Ok fine...50 shot. If you can hook a 50 shot, it's solid 11's all day. You might need to get into a more serious radial tire with the added torque.

Did you weigh it yet? As mentioned...you have weight reduction left. Maybe a lexan hatch glass and windshield. Drag rims/tires can be worth 100lbs of rotating mass off of the car depending on what you have and what you end up buying.

weight reduction

you also should be getting 1.6x 60 fts at that power level and a stalled auto and with a good tire and optimal tire presure

Breaking up at 5500 sounds more like a coil to me than an opti...

Weight reduction, gears, shallow staging, good air, tight track, anything to help weight transfer will make it more efficient but the bottom line is horsepower and weight. Removing 100 pounds roughly translates to dropping a tenth...

I think it translates more like 4-5lbs. Anyways, that's one of the reasons I went with the Bogart wheels.

When I went to the Bogarts and metric radials that was the only change that I made. Stock wheels and tires are 42lbs. each and the skinnies are 25lbs. each. A total of 34lbs. less and I dropped 1 tenth and gained 1 MPH.

So I'd say it was about a 3-4 to 1 ratio.
