New Drag Launch Technique for m6
New Drag Launch Technique for m6
I have the LT4 conversion and had a problem keeping the hotcam in it's powerband off the launch at the track with street tires.....Problem solved.
Put your car in 2nd gear, and launch somewhere between 3500-4000 rpms. closer to 3500 you bog, closer to 4000 you spin, but you are moving forward instead of setting still and you stay in the powerband, + it's one less shift.
BTW, I have 3.73s
I haven't tried it at the track yet, but I tried it on the county roads and it worked pretty good, you might have to adjust the rpms around a little bit.

I wouldn't try that.. It's fine on the street.. but your tires are going to hook a tad bit better on that track.. WOuldn't be surprised to see that Spec take a **** as well.. w/ that kinda load...
I did a 2nd gear start with my 4.10's a couple weeks ago...
dumped the clutch at 4k rpms and it didnt like it at all !!!
Lets just say I am happy it still grips..........
BAD BAD BAD

ok, I kind of get what you are saying now.
Anybody have any tips on how to launch with the hotcam??
I'm really starting to not like the hotcam that much since it doesn't really make much power until around 3k rpms

I'm on Dayton Z Rated 275/40/17 tires and I was launching a little above 3k @ 25 psi in the tires and spinning kinda bad out of the hole, but if I went lower than I was out of the powerband.
Id say get some DR"s.. and go from there.. Street tires are going to be in consistant on the track.. Dumping clutches on street tires only amounts to one thing.. worn out tires!!!
I don't really like the thought of putting DR's on my car for a couple of reasons:
1. DR's + 140k mile rear end = not good
2. DR's + wheels to mount them on = $$$ that needs to be spent on getting my car lined out.
If I am spinning at 3k, how would dumping the clutch at 5500 be any better??
