We'll try to get it certed for 9s next Spring.

Note - I have seen several 4th-gens use floor plates smaller than 6x6. Not legal and not safe. It's worth the trouble to do a bit of trimming and bending to get the whole thing in there. The main hoop plates are a major PITB though.

No kidding about those main hoop plates. Lots of massaging to get them to fit the floor pan. Good luck on the quest for 9's.

To get some of my plates down I nice hot torch made it pretty easy. We heated it up until it was cherry red and beat the thing down.
Scared the crap out of me when I saw how hot the guy that did mine got it.

You T-Top guys got it pretty easy on doing the hoop install.

Are you going to triagulate in the cross over on the rear section? into the main cage?

Looks really good that is the only thing i would look at doing (me personally)

My cage is changing a little bit since the last time i posted hopefully i will get some time to take pictures and post some more too.

Whats the motor combo?

Steven

Nah. We put the cross bar over the rearend to keep that flex down. Only reason we put the tube gussets in on the halo are to protect against collapse. I feel the other areas are well supported. As it sits...it's overkill for what we will probably ever do.

355, eagle rods, SRP pistons, HOT cam, manley race-flows, ported LT1s, nothing special.

This winter I want to put a new crank in, freshen everything else up, add the CC306 on the shelf, and rework the spray for two fogger nozzles before the TB and shoot a 275 deal. Probably going to a 3,200 stall and TH350 over the winter and we're looking at options for the differential. Money comes in spurts so I need to do what I can when I can. My father-in-law (the owner and financial provider for the project) is thinking he wants a 383 short-block for it. I'd rather keep the costs down and the cubes where they are. We have this motor. It has good parts. It needs a bit more to do what we want. High 9s the goal for 2003. High to mid 10s this fall.

And yes....we have spare diffs laying around.

Thumbs up

Looks pretty nice!

Why did you guys put the bars down to the trans tunnel though? We put mine about halfway to the trans tunnel over where the rear subframe is. That is where it will help the most. There isnt really a lot to brace in the trans tunnel.

And those hoop plates ARE a PITA. We heated and beat mine till they fit too.

Looking good!
