New best track times
New best track times
Went to the track tonight to test out my newly installed long tubes and cutout.
My best:
R/T.....0.569
60'......2.268
330'....5.994
1/8.....9.057
MPH....81.03
1000...11.678
1/4.....13.803
MPH....101.79
I'm happy with the times but my 60' time is really bad. Can't get any traction. Tried airing down the tires to 25lbs and it seemed to help. The track was pretty slippery regardless.

That's a good time concidering where your at and your track conditions. If you were on a stiker track you would have been in the 13.70 range with good elevation. Your car runs good man!! keep up the nice work to it.
I went to the track tonight for the first time. http://web.camaross.com/forums/showthread.php?t=286491 My best was about the same as yours. Are you auto or stick? Try working on your reaction time.

a .569 reaction time is pretty good already.......best I have ever pulled is a .515, remember .500 is a perfect light. Oh and if you didnt already know...your reaction times have absolutely nothing to do with your 1/4 mile et.
Re: New best track times
Obviously he's running a 6-speed (note the B&M ripper shifter, and CAGS
).
Not a bad time man!
If you're just running street tires, TRY inflating them to like ~35 psi. I know it sounds backwards, but that's what I've been running in mine this year, and I've been cutting consistant 1.9xx 60' times
. Last year I was normally getting ~2.1 - 2.2, and when I let air out of the tires, my 60' times even hit 2.3's!
That theory only really works for radial street tires, not for drag radials or ET Streets though
.
BTW, where in Canada are you?

Re: New best track times
yeah don't let the air out. I tried to doin that and heating them up sunday and ran a 2.59 60'. Would not get traction at all. I aired them back up and got it down to a 2.1. Made a .9 difference on the time slip.

Z-RATED94: Your right. Your time dosen't start until you exit the staging beam.
My R/T are pretty consistant in the .560 range.
Capn Pete: I ran these times @ Cayuga on Friday night. There were about 4 F-bodys there. next time I go to the track, I'm gonna play around with my tire pressure more since I am running radials. My BFG tires suck for traction in the first place.
I'm going to try St.Thomas dragway cause I hear traction is really good. I have no idea why traction is bad @ Cayuga, especially since they were preping for the National AC Delco event (IHRA) that morning I was there. I've been to Cayuga twice before and was cutting 2.10's all day.
I live in the Newmarket area. Around 1/2 hr north of TO. Are you a member of TFBM (Toronto F-body Motorsports) club?

Re: New best track times
bozo: I think some tracks use .500 as perfect and obviously the track you went to uses .000 as perfect. I cant remember why some do it different, I just might have to do some quick research.
Re: New best track times
r/t is mesured in seconds or fractions of seconds. its calcuated by how long it takes from the time the light turns green and your tire to roll out of the staged light . so my friend it sounds like you sat there for at least half a second before you "reacted" to the light(not that good). you got to anticipate the light on the last yellow and try to start reacting to it before it turns green

.500 is a perfect light at some tracks.....he ran a .069 at a track that measures it as .000 as a perfect.......it was a good light! He didnt sit no where for no half a second, I guarantee to get that light he was on it at the last yellow. I believe and I'm not sure, but the new way at drag strips is the .000, but I think the older way and still used is by measuring it as .500.
I wish I had more info on the subject......I tried doing a search on google but couldnt find anything......any drag racing guru's wanna chime in?
Re: New best track times
UMM, you can sit at the green light for however long you want to. As long as you don't move forward and break the beam your time won't start. Try it sometime. I've had reaction times that are like 1.00 (wasn't paying attention).

. Fridays attract a lot more of the Tuner crowd (imports, etc.) so I don't think they use as much VHT on the track, since not as many of the cars are running slicks, and not as many of the cars are SERIOUS "race cars"
. However, I've been getting consistant 1.9's this year, on both the Friday night and the Sunday that I've been to Cayuga
.I live in Courtice, just on the east end of Oshawa
. I'm not a member of TFBM though. Maybe I should be though?
Re: New best track times
On TT (test and tune) nights @ Cayuga, the "tree" is a .500 series. A .500 light is a perfect reaction time. That said my reaction times are decent. I'm on it right when I see the last yellow.
