new best..355 6 speed..10.39@131.6

Went to give it another shot tonight to see if the new oil pan with all the oil control stuff worked like people said it would. I had tightened up the front shocks from my 10.49 run in an attempt to keep the front end down...wheelies are cool but they are waisted et. Anyway, burnout didn't go to well and went sideways so had to role out of it sonner then I would have liked. Staged and brought up the revs to 6200 on the two step and let her rip. I felt it struggle for traction, pick the wheels up about 6" and carry em out some then bit and bogged. Car ran out well and I noticed that on top the rpms were really screaming and I crossed the light right as I hit my limiter. I knew the mph had to be good as I was turning more than on my 130 mph runs but thought the launch would hurt my et. got the slip and was shocked to see a new best of 10.39 @ 131.6 with a 1.42 60'(also new best). I did notice that my 1/8th mile was down 2 mph from my 10.49 @ 130 run so I knew it had more in it. But...glanced at the oil preasure and it was sitting at 0. I shut it down and had this problem a few weeks ago but it came back. I'm thinking sending unit but didn't want to chance it so it went on the trailer. I know the car had at least .5 mph and .05 et in it since I always go faster after my first run to shake off the cob webs. Plus I know the car had more in the 60'. Oh well..thats all speculation.

Here is the full slip

60' 1.42
330 4.29
1/8 6.665
mph 103.71
1000 8.68
1/4 10.39
mph 131.65

Compaired to my other run

60 1.437
1/8 6.710 @ 105.74
1/4 10.494 @ 130.4

Anyway...new best for me with more left in it. All on pump gas and a 6 speed..heheheh.

Tim

Ken, thanks man...I'm hoping for the best. May take a look at it tonight.

Shon, a 6 speed can 60' with the best of em. Just need a few things to get there. If you can 60' with em you will outrun them on the top 1/2 of the track with the same mods.

OH, we are 60' good!! I just can not nail the gear changes as Russ E. can and therefore about 3 tenths slower than him. We pull the same 60's so it is the gear changes, I plan on figuring out his secret this year or blowing up the trans trying.
I have a new clutch in the car that we are going to try out Saturday, should be fun!

LOL!! It is much 'easier' to rape a car when it is not your own, but that is just a guess. I have logged some of his runs and we are doing it all the same except the time between shifts. I will keep working on it!!

Would you like to share the process of preloading? I understand it in the Automatic world and might have a slight thought behind the Manaul stuff but help is greatly appreciated!

When your under full throttle you can pull on the shifter all you want..it will not pop out of gear(don't just up and down on it..just pull on it). With that though in mind as your approaching shift rpm you can actually start to pull or push on the shifter in the direction of the upshift. When you put pressure on the shifter and you enguage the clutch as soon as the the clutch is enguaged it will shift. This basically eleminates you haveing to "time" the shift to when the clutch is enguaged. Give it a try...it should help you really slam the gears. When you get use to it your actually time out of the throttle(between shift time) should go down.

AH! I had it all wrong, I thought you were preloading at the line but understand what you are saying.
I have been able to make passes with my foot on the floor, that took some nerve but have been able to do that. and the last time out I did notice the front not dropping on me as far as it used to during the shifts so we are getting better.
When Russ shifts people think it is an Auto so I got some practicing for sure!

If I might add one more thing to what 95Bird has mentioned about power shifting. Keep your left foot to the left of the clutch pedal and let it slide off as you kick it to the floor. It's a little hard on the drivetrain but what part about trying to be quick isn't?

Looks like I'll have to give Taner a call tonight and line up a race for you two. While you two guys up on the track... I'll line myself up with all Taner's Molsen in the pits... yep sounds like a good plan to me.

Re: new best..355 6 speed..10.39@131.6

i learned exactly how 95bird does it, you can pull the car out of gear without using the clutch, putting it back in w/o clutch is a lil more difficult (its doable as i found out on a badly timed 1-2 powershift lol)...while keeping your foot to the floor i do this in the order im listing it
1. pull shifter out of gear
2. clutch
3. put in gear
4. de-clutch
its gorgeous when it all comes together
