Need help with 60' time

I've taken my car to the track twice and my best run is a 14.178 at 97.82mph. My 60' time was a 2.205. Almost all of my 60' times are 2.2xx. When i launch, i torque it up to about 1100rpm and hold it there til i floor it. You're probably thinking.... yeah you're getting 2.2's cause you're spinning. Nope, the launch seems about perfect with minimal wheelspin. The only thing i can think of to do better is hold the brake all the way to the floor and try to stall it up a little higher. What do you guys think?

Oh, and i don't have DR's just some 255's street tires

Re: Need help with 60' time

2.2's might be the best you're gonna get using a street type tire. You could do a minor burnout just to "clean" the tires off so they get a better bite at the line but unless you're using a "drag" type tire you won't see a major reduction in your 60 ft.

Another thing you can try is stage off line, allowing your street tires to get better traction right at the track surface instead of on all the rubber that other people lay down. That laid down rubber helps a drag type tire launch better when heated properly but hurts a street type tire when you want the traction right off the line.

I'll try the staging off line next time. I hope i can get my 60's down hearing all of these 2.0's on street tires and no stalls. I'd be in the 13's with 2.0 60's.

Re: Need help with 60' time

yeah give it a go and see what happens. Last year on my old worn out 275/40/17 S-02's I was able to hook a 2.0 60 but that was only the one time. When I race with those tires I was usually around 2.1-2.2's.

With my DR's 2.0's for me is the norm even though I should hook a lot better than that. Keep in mind my car's a M6 so getting that elusive 1.7-1.8 60 is kinda hard. Hopefully now that I have a Spohn TA installed I might get down there. If it happens I could see a high 12 out of my setup. Good luck on your 60 fts.

Re: Need help with 60' time

haha I just want to get into the 13's. Mostly cause my friend in his WRX got a 13.9 when we went to the track. Think a Ram Air scoop ,under my CAI, and the TB bypass will get me there?

Re: Need help with 60' time

They'll help you get a little bit more power from your engine but what you really need to do is get that power to the ground. Having the extra bit of hp isn't going to help you if you can't use that power to move the car off the starting line as fast as possible without losing too much traction.

If you don't want to get DR's just yet, do the above and also remove your frt bar and all the brackets that hold it in place. That'll get about 20 lbs off the frt end and help with weight transfer. Try a few launches off line and see if that'll help you.

You are close to your goal, you just have to now find the little things to help you get your et down to where you want them to be.

You're not going to stall a stock converter much higher than 1100 RPM. Not that you should with street tires.

Man 13.87 with all those mods? I'm thinking about a stall and DR but i don't want to explode my rear end. How's the driveability of a 2800 stall?

That won't happen. The 10 bolt will last in an auto car for a LONG time.

Z-RATED- I've been able to stall my stocker up to 1800 without spinning the tires. But, I suppose every car is different.

Re: Need help with 60' time

Baby the throttle off the line and then mash it when you hook up good......takes some practice, but you should get a 2.05-2.15 60 foot or so.
I just pulled a 13.651 @ 101.87 mph 2.000 60 foot at us41 on sunday with my pretty limited mods in sig. Oh and btw with street tires, stock tune, no tb bypass, no air foil I was still running 13.9x-14.0x.
Good luck and just practice your launch.

Yeah, Some pretty sad times for the mods I've done. Somethings not quite right though. It just falls off in the upper RPM. Really never tried to figure it out, I don't drive the car much, just kept adding different go fast parts. Last year was the kicker though, when the Vig. and the Nittos made no difference. The car always had good low end grunt, and with the Vig., the Nitto's could'nt hold the poorly preped track. So this year we'll try the new heads and cam, along with some other parts, and a set of ET streets. Sooner or later my luck has got to change.
As for how's the 2800 stall, it takes a little getting use to. But it's well worth the money and I would never go back.
