My bolt on LT1 vs stock LS1

Thinking of trading my LT1 Z (A4) for a stock LS1 TA (M6)...what differences might i notice performance wise?

Current mods:

SLP 2OTL w/ flowmaster 40 series
BBK Shorties
SLP CAI
Granatelli MAF
Mail Tune

Could anyone describe a race between the two cars? Will i feel the power as much in the TA? Will the LT1 pull harder off the line? Thanks in advance

Re: My bolt on LT1 vs stock LS1

Stock for stock, with the same transmission, an LS1 pulls on an LT1 through the entire powerband, including the launch.

Driven properly, a stock M6 car will out-launch an otherwise-identical A4 car.

I think your car would hold dead even with an LS1 M6 for the first 30-50 feet, and then the LS1 would slowly walk away from you.

To put it simply, your bolt-on Z would be edged out by a properly driven stock m6 LS1.

There's probably only one in every 100 guys driving that can pull that off.
It's dead simple to pull 2.0 sixties with a stock LS1 auto on stock GSCs. (I've got close to 200 timeslips to prove it). Not so easy to pull 2.0s on stock tires with a stick. They just shock the tires a spin or bog.

That's why I said "driven properly." I'm not sure that the skills are as rare as you say, but good M6 drivers are certainly not in the majority.

Besides, anyone can learn.

Seeing that 2.1 in your sig I guess that you'd better get out there and practice then A good reason to go to the track.

Hard tires (harder than the stockers), cold track, and no experience launching the car before that day (I had owned it about two months and hadn't been to the track before that).

I plan on going to the track a lot more often this year. We'll see what I can do!

Excuses, excuses...

I just checked your homepage and we have the same tires (and car), which I repeatedly cut 2.0s with.

Try harder at the track next time.

We have a different intake manifold and a different cam, and you have LT headers. Those can make quite a difference in the low-end behavior of the engine, which could easily explain the difference.

My 2.1's came on a cloudy 40-degree day. The tires were HARD that day. I don't think you get many days like that in Florida.

I'm making no claim to be an expert M6 driver, but I know that the best times recorded for a stock LS1 Camaro were done in an M6 (by an expert driver).

No track times with the headers yet, they'll come Thursday.

I saw your location before I replied, and I understand about the cold weather and hard tires, I was just messin' with you.

The g-Forces are the BEST tires I've ever owned, period. I'm on my 3rd set and recommend them to everyone.
