mt ET streets tread depth

OK why can't M/T list the starting and ending tread depth on ET Streets, specifically 26x10.5x16 .

When is the rubber too thin? When it's a full slick ? What is the
new tread depth?

All tire including slicks have wear indicators. Street tires have wear bars inside the treads. When the wear bars are the same height as the tread, they're worn out.

Slicks have wear holes in the tread. When the holes disappear, they're worn out.

NHRA doesn't give a wear specification for slicks but state that street tires must have a minimum of 1/16" of tread. Tech inspectors want to see wear holes in the slicks so they know the tires are not worn out.

Slicks can be worn out or no good long before the wear holes disappear. If the tires just can't hook up any more no matter what you try to do, throw them out and buy new ones.

Nice info but still didn't answer my questions. I know how to check street tires.

I specifically requested info on ET Streets, as I see NO warning bars per say BUT I do see some slits that resemble highway lane markers, ie not a straight lines but broken lines going around the tire, is that the "holes" you where refering to?

And does anyone know how deep they are when new?

ET Street tires have the same type wear bars inside the grooves as a normal street tire. They're just not as big.

I would take a guess and say 8/32" is new. It might only be 6/32". They don't have a lot of rubber like a typical street tire that's designed to last 30,000 miles.

The wear holes in a full slick are just small holes across the tread. Since there's no rain grooves in the tread, there needs to be some way to indicate a depth.

Et Streets have two grooves running around the tire. When the groove is gone there is no tread. If you push it beyond this point the rubber will start to peel off the cord and you will notice it if you pay careful attention to your tires. I will push it until there is visible risk of impending failure. I will not go beyond that point. I do not want a blowout in the burnout box or anywhere else on the track.
