M6 Launch Theory Thread
#1
If you've got some good M6 launch theory, throw it in here!!
What I've discovered so far, and based on the advice of some; Bring your clutch right about to the point where it starts to engage and back it off a hair. Then bring your engine up to your desired launch RPM. Leaving is the tricky part, it's a 'controlled clutch snap' as I like to call it.. But it's not really a 'SNAP' per say, you kind of ride it out quickly and by the time you're moving good, you've snapped it all the way out. Smooth but rapid engagment, I guess.
I'm no pro, but this is what I learned before I replaced my stock clutch w/ my McLeod single unit and it seems to work. Learn on the stocker and beat that one up, not the expensive one! It took me about a week of messin around at stop lights to figure it out.. I snapped it out once at a light once and it grabbed like crazy!!! I was stunned!!! -Normally NO traction here!! Once you're movin', shift with your gas foot FLOORED! That's a side of that car I've NEVER SEEN!!!!!
Anyway... Throw in your theories to help some of us out!

for the 10 bolt.
I dump/very quick slip it from 2k. go 3/4 WOT and and all the way wot. Lets the car hook a while, still fast enough to get a good 60, doesnt bog at all for me. I usually get 2.00-1.85's. But this is when i only have intake, exhaust, 3.73's.
I dont trust the rears in these cars, espeically with a m6 car.
For high hp/ 12 bolt cars i have no exp. so I wont pretend i do.

A StreetTwin (and it hooked) broke my 9" twice, pics below.
IMHO sliping the clutch is the best way to leave, and not break things with a stick.
Adjustable clutches do that for you Problem is, I've never seen an adjustable clutch for the LT1. Gen1 or LS no problem.
Anyway good luck doing controlled slip with your left foot, your on the right track
