M6 and 4.10s...

Well, I have an opportunity to swap to a 4.10 gear from my stock 3.42's basically for free. I'm tempted to do it.

My question is for those who have done so. Last time I raced the car, it went 13.20 @ 106 and change with headers, cai and some other basic minor bolt ons. Street tires and 3.42's. This was close to 2 years ago.
I am planning on racing the car again soon with some new stuff. XE cam and valvetrain from combo motorsports, tune, some better tires, other minor odds and ends.

Has anyone ever *lost* mph in the quarter by swapping to a 4.10 gear with a mild setup like this? Or gained mph by swapping back to 3.42's? Dont really care about the ET, just wanna know how this kind of a swap will affect trap speeds...
TIA

I think your biggest problems will be traction and the fast 1-2 shift. Otherwise... enjoy it. I can't see you realistically hooking up unless the track is prepped for a national event.

The 2-3 shift is fast as well. Like said above unless track prep is good, forget about traction. But I could tell a huge difference between the two. I think it was my best mod.

Hmmm....I dont really anticipate having too much of a traction problem...car wont be making silly power for a few more months and I cant leave that hard anyway because I still have a 10 bolt..
Anyone like to share their before and after gear swap ET and MPH?
