LS1 aluminum DS ?

So, any experiences out there on how much HP these can handle? I'm thinking it might be time to upgrade. I want to lower where the spray comes in at next year. Right now it comes on about two car lenghts out. It's set to spray at 4k to 6k. (stock trans) Thanks for reading.

The stock LS1 aluminum DS is a downgrade from the stock steel LT1 driveshaft in terms of strength. Your best bet is to buy an aftermarket DS like a Spohn or Denny's driveshaft.

Thanks guys. I got the LS one for free when the shop was trying to pinpoint a strange noise I had coming from the rearend. A new posi cured the weird noise and I asked if they wanted the DS back. They told me to keep it, which seemed like a good deal at the time.

That LS1 shaft works well for me so far but I wouldn't spray too much n2o on it. Later

400 to the tire, consistent low 1.6's, mid/low 11's - stock LS1 driveshaft. I will say that i'm sure I was on borrowed time. Upgrade to a good unit, expensive but one less thing to worry about.
