Lifting the tires in 2nd gear

I ran my car last night in Darlington and every pass I made the tires came between 6"-12" off the ground on my 1-2 shift. (6 speed car)

The only thing I can attribute this to is the 92lbs I have removed off the front of the car (K-member, race battery, front bumper support).

Everyone thought it was the coolest to see a street car to yank the wheels in 2nd gear, but it caused the car to get stupid loose till the 1/8th mile then it settled back in through the 1/4mi.

Anyone have any ideas?

This is my suspension setup:
1. HAL's Front setting 3
2. HAL's rear setting LR 5 RR 6
3. Eibach drag springs
4. BMR K-member
5. SPOHN Rear Drag Sway bar
6. SPOHN Extreme Chromoly Torque Arm
7. SPOHN adjustable LCA's
8. SPOHN Panhard rod
9. SPOHN LCA re-location brackets lowest setting
10 MAC tubular sub-frame connectors
11. front sway bar removed
12. 28x12.50x15 ET Streets 12psi
13. Skinnies on front 38psi

Extra Information:
4" Carbon Fiber Drive Shaft
Moser 12 bolt 4.30 gears

Lets say it's from the weight loss Might be time to stiffen up the front shocks if the front end is bouncing a lot.

i get 2nd gear wheelies as well, on spray! tighten up the front shocks! to like 6 or seven. maybe a bit less, since your power level is a bit less. also my wheelies are with the front suspension limited to about 2" of travel! lol!

I can't offer any advice, but I wish I could have seen it

Wonder what it would have done on a well prepped track?

Well, supposely the track was prepped good. My buddy Russ that one the GMHT shootout for fastest LT1 bolt on car just did a 355 rebuild. He still hasnt gotten all the bugs worked out yet and ran 11.4 @ 119mph NA!!! Not bad. Jeff knows him, actually I think they are good friends.

I should have expanded on my comment: The track WAS prepped good...to start with. In fact, I had my best 60' time ever on my second run. But they didn't keep it that way. A lot of the less experienced drivers kept dragging water up to the starting line with crappy burnouts and what I saw is the crew constantly mopping the line in the later rounds. Not to mention the coolant spills and tranny and rear end fluid they "attempted" to clean up. My third and last run was horrible, spinning badly - even a little in 2nd which is rare for me.

But that's what usually happens at events like that - no big surprise

Kudo's to Russ too. I saw him there, but didn't see him run, but that's impressive!

I'll try tightening the front shocks more and see how that affects it. Thanks for all the help guys!

If it wasnt for that, and my tranny giving me fits with shifts, I should have seen some 10.6-10.7's.

Thanks,
Jeff

I agree with Taner adjust the shocks stiffer and also raise the front of the car up so you dont have as much travel in the shocks when your hitting the gears and launching, I had a huge problem with wheel stands and I adjusted and lifted the front shocks to lift the car up about an inch and now it only leaves about 6 to 10 inchs and pulls mid 1.3 60's

Which springs do you have on the front? I have my spring seat turned up to the 42nd tooth and have about 2.5-3.0" of gap in the fender well. I'm searcing for that elusive 1.3 60'ft.

Thanks,
Jeff
