launching problems and also, good trap or no?

sorry it's a long post but im looking for a little help

14.26 @ 101.11 with a 2.36 60'. the car was running hard and well, and VERY consistent just like last time but i couldnt launch the pig to save my ***. I would either bog it by not giving it enough gas or spin the nittos. dumping it and then jerking it a bit, bogging down a slight bit and tromping it seemed to work best, i think thats what netted me the best time, just kinda in the middle but its so hard to launch these cars. BTW this was my best of 7 runs, so i need to decide what i wanna do about tires for next time and a rear end....hmmmm any thoughts or ideas.

it was really hit or miss, they either spun or it bogged, but NOT because they hooked. i was running 315-35-17 Nittos at about 28 PSI and i didnt heat them at all. should i drop the pressure a ton and heat em up a bit before i launch? honestly it seems like 2.3 is just so damn slow compared to these 1.8s, which ive seen all over these sites with DRs and stock rearends. am i just being to cautous with the 7.5" or what? Seemed kinda violent on the 2.3 60's where it kinda jumped and didnt bog or spin at all, but that is still a crap launch. all the other ones were 2.4 and 2.5. i was thinking a 2.0 would be cake with these nittos but apparently not.

i pulled a 2.2 with my old Z on ****ty bald street tires and that car was mostly stock.

any advice or tips would be so great, im pissed with all this money ive spent and the blood sweat and tears and all night trying to break into a damn 13! i cant do it.lol

i can post slips if neccessary but i think i covered the 3 main things.

also, im wondering if my car is trapping abuot what it should with the mods i have. they are all in the sig. should i be going a little higher or no? and are there any other small things that will make a noticable difference in power. ive got a nitrous kit planned in a few months, but other than that anything else to do?

well i think our mods are close to the same, i was able to pull off a best of 13.73, with the average for the last time i went being in the 13.8ish area. I only went to the track a few times, but i can tell you it takes plenty of practice. My first times out there i was running 13.9-14.2s.
I think with my tires i had 20 psi or so and was heating them up. ALso i found with my car, my best launches was holding it about 2500 rpm ( i think ) and not dumping the clutch but easing out on it to let the tires grip, then laying into it. Thats all the little bit of advice i can give, hope it helps in some way

Put some 255 50 R16 M/T Radials on 16x8 stockers and you'll see a big improvement in 60'...I used 17" wheels/tire DR combo for years and was never consistent and had big probs hooking..The taller sidewall and bigger front to back contact patch over the 315 17s will really help your launch...I know I'm an A4, but they will reduce your 60's...A rear may be in your future regardless as M6s are just harder on them on the lauch...

yes they are 315s on 9.5" wheels. the nittos arent bad, they run a bit smaller so they dont looks like crap at all, but ive already considered dropping down to a 275-40-17.

hmmm, ill be getting a set of 16x8 5 star camaro wheels for winter to maybe they will become my new track wheels in the summer time. think the one down in diameter will help that much?

im gonna drop the pressure a tad next time and try slipping the clutch more, instaed of just dumping it. see if that will help.

any other oppinions. thanks for what youve guys given me already.

Whats the diameter of the 315s? the 255 50 R16s are 26.1" tall, plus you'll have more sidewall...To an extent, a taller narrower tire will out hook a wider tire with less sidewall...Years ago I had the opportunity to run 275 40 17s on a 9" wheel and then switch to a 17x11 and run 315s both in the BFG DR...I found zero difference in 60's...only added weight of the 315s. The 315s looked huge compared to the 275s, but the proof was in the 60's...Switching to the smaller width, added sidewall of the 16s made a huge difference...I think you'll be happy...

Track prep has alot to do with the launch and practice makes perfect in this case. Don't expect to go to the track 2 or 3 times and hit the number. Also a bone stock M6 car should be 14.0 on street tires. Your mods should easily be in the 13's. I don't see any tuning in your sig though.

the car is tuned for fans, !air, !egr and a bunch of other crap. FLP used LT1 edit to do the tune.
