One thing I just realized from my reply in the other forum, you just got your car last night and you're going to race it tonight? I'm just curious how old you are and how much experience you have driving a manual, especially a car with close to 300 hp, no offense I had a couple years experience driving my car before taking it to the track. You may want to get some miles on it on the street and get familiar with it before running the 1/4, I wouldn't want to hear about you hurting yourself. I would recommend doing some test runs from a stop on a long straight section of road some time when no cars are around to get the feel of it. I'm not saying take it up to 100 + , but get the feel of going through the gears and shifting hard before hitting the track. Just my opinion.

I AGREE, IT WOULD NOT BE WORTH F'ING UP YOUR CAR ON THE STRIP, OR KILLING YOURSELF! PUT SOME TIME IN GETTING USED TO THE FEEL OF YOUR CAR, AND GET VERY COMFORTABLE WITH IT BEFORE YOU TAKE IT TO THE STRIP. I HAD 2 SLOWER F BODIES (3RD GEN) AND HAD HAD MY 4TH GEN T/A FOR A YEAR BEFORE I EVER TOOK IT TO THE TRACK.

I totally agree with the above. Get use to your car then hit the track. If you can't wait take extremely easy passes first couple times down. Find out the feel of the track, turnoff, drivers rules, etc. Lauching the M6 with street tires is very trickey. I never got the hang of it. Think of it as launching on ice with a semi bearing down behind you.

My moms Jeep Cherokee could beat a 2002 S2000 thats nothing to brag about. As for how to launch, you will have 1000's of opinons on how, the best way is to practice. Some ways work for someone won't work for anohther. Buy a G-tech and practice launching, find out what give you the best time. As you've stated you have supposively driven all of these high performance cars. If this is the case you shouldn't even been asking this question.

Don't do a big smokey burnout. Just heat the tires up until the feel like they're sticking. I launch by feathering the clutch from 4000, but Atco is known for being sticky too. Just try a variety of ways, and see what works for you. Practice makes perfect!

Oh c'mon!! Doesn't everyone run their car @ the track the day after they bought it?

My maiden pass was a 15.2@9xmph... Later that same night I ran a 14.2@100mph. Still with the paper tags. Now it'll run a 12.4@123mph... <- all on street tires of course!

I'd launch the car at 2k... Feather clutch a tad from there. And shift @ 52 or 5300... W/ this method I was able to get a 13.0@106 out of my car still w/ stock manifolds and cats. Shifting higher actually slowed it down.
