Launching

my car is pretty much bone stock except for some headers i just put on and i was wondering what is the best technique (sp?) for a m6 lt 1 cause i always end up spinning or boggin down (maybe i just suck) i've never taken it to the track just runnin it around town at stoplights and stuff, so any help is appreciated

Re: Launching

here is a formula for you to work with
10% slip 90% Grip
and you can give or take a lil on that depending on your car
basically its a ratio so to get your self to hook at the right RPM to be in your power band
with your car you have two places where you can throw that slip in
either your clutch or your tires
tires are not that controllable they are somewhat predictable but not really the consistancy that you want
so that leaves the clutch
what i always do is do this slip dump thing with the clutch
instead of just letting my foot off the clutch i pull my foot back quickly
but its still on the clutch
what you want to do since the LT1 has very good low end power rev the engine to about 3500 rpms and hold it there then do the slip dump (takes practice to get it to the right speed ) and ease in to the power (quickly but not slow either)
the whole process from starting to let out on the clutch to full throttle takes about a second but its the most important second in the 1320

launching is gonna be diff for every car
and it took me about a month to get it right in my GTO on the street
but the track is a whole different monster
hey go play around abit and youll find a technique that fits you
and then go by a new clutch lol
