Launching a 2002 Z-28

I have a 2002 Z-28 with an auto.
What has worked best for some of you leaving the line? Do you take the RPMs up or launch on idle?
Also manualy shifting or letting the car go on its own?
I will be running drag radials so I should hook just fine.
Thanks

What all is done to your car. A signature would make it alot easier for people to help answer your questions.

Stock LS1 auto car. Put the car in ''D'' hold the brakes and bring the revs up to 800rpm. When the third yellow comes on roll into the gas. If the track is working then you'll get 2.0x 60s all day long on street rubber.
