Launch techniques needed real bad!

First time at the track and I did poorly. I contribute this all to my launch. The first launch I forgot to take turn off my ASR because they had me and my friend wait 15 minutes at the start cuz of some disabled car on the track. So when I turned it back on ofcourse I forgot to turn the ASR back off. Especially with all the adrenaline cuz it's my first run and against my coworker who has a 95 5.0 with cam/heads work and headers. On a roll I know I can take him or be even, but on a launch he had experience and boy did it show up!! Before I left the whole he was already 2 car lengths ahead of me!! Whoa!!!...I have issues!! At the 1/8 he was at 80mph and I was at 76 at the 1/4 he was 101 w/13.9 and I was 97 w/15.66!! Horrible. He left after that and it didn't bother me too much cuz he and I know I am a new jack to this. My second run I did worse! I had my ASR off, but I was spinning for days out of the whole. I told myself to watch out, but it didn't work, my leg was to edgy I guess. My reaction time was 2.66 out of the whole. I guess that means I was spinning for almost 3 secs right? The first reaction time was 2.33. On my 3rd run I got a 15.09. My 3rd reaction time was much better. It was .989! The car hop much more this time, but I didn't take advantage of it. I was revving at 2400, so I dropped the clutch and the car hopped ...i was loving it, but I didn't push the gas enough after I started rolling. I guess I was being too careful not to spin. The car actually choked slightly like it wanted more gas after the hop was over. So you dudes with mad experience w/ basically a stock car on street tires post your techniques on launches right here please. Next time at the track is Jan 8, 2003. I am going to go practice my launches before I go. I am pretty sure I can get 13.5. There were a few dudes with basically the same setup getting 13.3s. One girl in an ss with nothing done to it got 12.8!!! !And some dude w/headers and stiff 17s got a 12.1!!WTF am I doing wrong! Well I know, but how do I correct it is where I need you guys help. I am going to have to hear my co-workers mouth for the next few weeks,so help me out!

Don't dump the clutch with street tires. I stage at 3 grand and quickly release the clutch, not dump. My best 60' with a slipping clutch was a 2.0. Not too bad. Try this technique. Also, lower the air pressure in the back a little. Some people say it doesn't work for street tires, but it always helps me. And increase the air in the front for less rolling resistance. Oh, and practice, practice, practice.
