Launch RPM's

OK, so my mods are in my sig. i have a stage 2 spec clutch and an m6, with my new 9" rear and 4.11 gears and Nitto 555r's . What would be a good starting point to launch this car at? Around 3000-3500rpms was doing pretty good, sometimes it would spin and sometimes it will bog, which i attribute to needing a tune and will have by the next time i go to the track. I was thinking about trying 2800-3500 rpms. I know the car will dead hook with my suspension setup and these tires with a good burnout, thats what broke my 10 bolt. Any input from more experienced racers would be appreciated.

Thanks Chris

sounds like you know where it will hook and where it will spin so why are ya askin us? Just vary it by couple hundred RPM and try different things

lol. yea, i know where she'll hook. i was just wondering because i know sometimes a car will be faster with a little wheelspin. basically i wanted to know whether it was worth the launching that high if a lower launch would work just as good.

If you went to a true slick tire, and launched at 5000rpm..A little spin would work well and you'd be accelerating very fast...haha The Nitto's aren't that forgiving and the quickest way wih them is like any street tire...Severe clutch slip while in the meat of the powerband, while not spinning the tires.. Not a job I'd want...It's tough from what I always see.

you have very good parts, just not the right tire.

To keep rpm's in check, I'd use a 2 step setup and vary launch rpm that way. It's one less thing to think about if you're trying to be consistant. Be it for bracket race reasons or just trial and error/test n tune results.

I agree i will be looking into a 2-step soon enough, i have had great success out of them with my old full race civic. I always heard a slick was over kill up to about 450rwhp, or do you mean ET streets?

Full slicks on anything other than an all out fulltime very quick race car are a thought from the past. The drag radials out there now will hook anything slower than 9s with the reliability of a slick.
I've tried Hoosier and Mickey Thompson and they both easily dead hook my high 1.4 sixties.

Don't forget you can play with the tire pressures too. Start high and let a little out.
