Lanching a turbo car.........
a lot harder then a NA so i have found out
i have a VIG 3800 stall and biult 4L60E from rossler. short of having rossler install a trans break (becuase the TH400 and stuff dont bolt to the V6 cars)
i have tried lanching with foot brake.. i can foot brake till about 3000 rpm and lanch (this is not yet under boost) 3100 i can do but i risk rolling and red lighting
i have been told to try useing the e-brake to help hold the car more, trying on the street it does seem to hold me till almost 3500 rpm or so..... but this also make the lanch very complex
i'm goiogn to the track to night to pratice and try some new ideas.... do you guys have any new ideas for me?

i'm going to try idle lanchs and flashing at 1200-1500-1800 ect
anything else to try?
i would be happy with 1.8-1.7 60's that would let me at least run high 11's in the 1/4 mile

2 step rev limiter. An ignition rev limiter will allow you to hold your 3000 rpm with the throttle blades wide open. This allows the turbos to spool up some. The LS1 turbo guys do this.

i got 12 passes and best i could pull was 2.0 60.... but on the way home i eather have a huge exhuast leak or a cold side leak i can't hit peak boost anymore
one run i did a 2.3 60 and still ran a 8.3 1/8 mile

Search on Grand National boards. IIRC, some of the Turbo buicks have the same problem (rolling through the lights when the turbo spools because the brakes dont holt) and you may find a solution there.

I've heard that the 2-step is there just for launch rpm and that boost actually builds worse on a 2-step than on the foot brake. Anyway try this, it works really well for Sy/Ty's.
Procedure:
1. Put the transmission in (N) Neutral.
2. Rev the engine while simutaneously pushing down HARD on the brakes.
3. The brake will set a lot tighter because the engine will produce more vacuum assist.
4. After doing this for a couple seconds the brake will be as far down as it will go.
5. Keep the brake all the way depressed, and shift the transmission into Drive (not Overdrive).
6. Start pressing on the gas pedal now to build up boost.
7. When the boost is where you want it and it is time to go, release the brake and slam the gas at the same time.
8. Typically, boost levels of somewhere between 0-5 lbs is good. Try launching at different levels to see which works best with your truck. You want a little chrip from the tires but not a lot of wheel spin.

Get a trans brake. It'll help with or without the 2-step rev limiter. I've seen guys take completely stock Grand Nationals (which run about 14 flat on street tires) into the low 12's by adding drag radials and a trans brake.
Of course, they rarely leave it at that... ported turbo and some free-flowing intercooler piping and you're looking at low 11's.

With a trans brake, it locks it in forward and reverse gears at once. Not allowing the tranny to move the output shaft. So the engine will be just spinning the torque convertor. You can go WOT and it will only rev up to the stall speed of the convertor. Problem is, alot of cars cant hold traction at a high stall speed. The 2-step would allow you to set the rpm to launch at, while the transbrake would hold you on the line.
I cant stall my car up at all on the line or it will blow the tires off. But it will flash up to the stall speed upon launch and hook pretty good.

I'd try calling MSD and see what they can come up with. They may not have a product listed for the V6 3800 motor but they may very well have a box that would work for you.

$600 for brake PLUS trip to ohio is not in my buget right now
