How To Launch

Gonna be taking my car to the track soon. And this will be my first time with this car. Have always had an automatic car that ive raced. My cars in sig. I do have traction control..which im guessing i should turn off. Ive tried launching b4..and i just smoke the tires..need some pointers here.

The 18's and the spec clutch is going to make things tricky. You have suspension mods in your sig. What exactly? sfc and lca's. I would try to dump it a low rpm's 1000-2000 and go with it. Slipping it would be a second choice. But if you have some sticky tires dumping it would probably be the best. I know where you are when what ever you do it spins the tires. But try to play around at stop signs and do what ever gets you out of the hole the quickest.

DO NOT DUMP THE CLUTCH!!!!!!

You will get a horrible 60' if you dump the clutch, I promise you. If you dump the clutch at low RPM's you're going to bogg off the line...no questions about it. If you dump the clutch at high rpm's you're going to put on a nice smoke show...no questions about that either.

Also, Dumping clutch + Sticky tires = Broken 10 Bolt...believe that.

Definitely turn off the ASR, and slip the hell out of that clutch. These SPEC clutches are built very tough and like to get beat up on. However, finding the "Sweet Spot" in them is very difficult. With these clutches, its generally engaged or not-engaged. There isn't much in between, however it is there I promise you.

You'll know when you're launching the car right when your tires are right at the threshold of spinning, but not spinning. You'll feel the tires fighting to keep traction. You'll just know when you finally do it right.

If I am running on nittos I'll do a good burnout and when at the line I'll hold the RPM's at about 4K and just feather out the clutch in that sweet spot.

If I happen to be running on my regular street tires, I'll hold the RPM's around 3700 RPM's and do the same thing.

The trick to launching the car is to never let the RPM's drop below 3500 RPM's. You want to keep the car in the Power Band as long as possible. This way when you finally feel it is safe to release the clutch all the way and keep your foot planted on the floor w/the gas pedal you'll be in the power band rather than climbing through the less powerful RPM ranges below 3500 or so.

If you can figure out how to do that w/your car it will not only net you a good 60' time, but a great ET providing that you know how to drive that thing.

Some people may have different theories on how to launch these cars, but thats what works for me...and you really can't argue w/my track times.

On nittos I my best 60' is 1.86 and on street tires, I cut pretty consistent 1.95 60' times. You'll never find me going above the 2.0 mark unless its a fluke like water on the track or something.

Keep in mind I have ABSOLUTELY ZERO suspension mods done to my car...everything is stock suspension wise.

Hope that helps ya, let me know if you have any more questions.
