How do you set your shift lights? (M6)

I'm just curious, if say you wanted to shift at 6600 or so, how earlier would you set your shift light? 6200-6300?
I need to set mine once because of its location.
Thanks.

I set mine at 6800 and shift around 6900. If I didn't have an rpm limit (7k) I'd set exactly at my shift point.

Re: How do you set your shift lights? (M6)

depends on how quick your reaction time is and how quick your motor revs. 100 -200 rpms below desired shift point should be about right.

You must be hiding the light inside a vent?

EDIT: you should verify what rpm it comes on at first. Set it at something low like 2k and bring the rpms up slow and see if it comes on right at 2k or if it comes on early. I have heard of some that will come on a couple hundred rpms early.
