Help on picking Drag Radials for street?

I was just wondering which drag radials would work the best with a set of stock 16X8 rims on the street. My problem is currently I have Toyo Proxies in the rear and their wet traction rocks but dry traction sucks. I was looking at either the Nitto NT555R or BFG G-Force T/A KD. But the BFG isn't offered in a 245/50-16. Anybodies thoughts or input would be greatly appreciated

I had a set of 245/50/16 Nitto DR's. IMO they were pretty good all around tires. Cut multiple 1.70-1.75 60fts at the track and got about 10,000-12,000 street miles out of them. Once the tread gets real low you have to be careful when it's wet. They spin pretty easily. But they were fine driving in the rain when they had decent tread on them.

from what ive heard, BFGs hook a little better, but the Nittos are better to drive home on. meaning, the nittos are a little better all around street tire than the BFGs. ive also heard you can get a little more wear out of a nitto.

i have a brand new pair of the Nittos 275/50-15s, but havent got to try them at the track yet. ive made a couple of passes on the street with them but its been really cold here, so its hard for anything to hook up. on motor, with the temp in the high teens, and the tire pressure @ 18-19psi, they hook dead on. but i tried spraying and that was pretty ugly.

i feel pretty confident though then when the temp warms up theyll be alot better on the street. i have no doubt ill be able to spray all day at the track right out the gate.

i have a set of 245/50/16's for the street. Great all around tire, haven't been to the track with them yet. But, i did have to drive in the snow with them today, not fun at all.

I haven't used the nitros but I can tell you that the BFG's hook really good at the track and handle the road just fine -- when it's dry!!

Driving in the rain with them was just stupid!! Going strait, the car would walk all over the place -- even at low speeds. Very scary.

Even tho I'm driving on them right now; I would suggest getting a soft set of wide street tires to drive on the street, and getting a used set of Drag Radials for the track.

if you're ever going to drive on the street with them, get the nittos. if you're only going to the track, get the bfg drag radials. i don't the the bfg kd is the drag radial you want. they make a comp t/a drag radial in 255/50/16 but its backordered.

Get the nitto's for the street. Great in the rain and good on wear. They also work great at the track. The bfg's hook a little better at the track, but no need to try to run them in the rain. Also the bfg's wear a little worse. Hope this helps.

Cold as hell in PA. Just got my Nitto's on the other day. Hmm rymes. Anyway, with gravel, cinders etc on the road, once the heat up they are instant traction. I'm really impressed. My old tires would put me sideways through 1st and 2nd in this weather. I give them 2 thumbs up!!

As soon as I put 4.11's in the car, I couldn't live without the Nitto Drags full time in the rear.

ive got 14,000 miles on my nitto 245/50/16's and they still have a little tread. thats with 50+ runs. great tires. great rain traction! better than my bald street tires had anyways. and now that they arent exactly street legal because of the low tread they hook even better.
