Help me get a better 60' time
I cant get my car to hook up out of the hole, and it may be me as much as the car, but I dunno.
Here's my combo
I am running a stock engine with normal boltons and a procharger running about 7lbs.
T56 with spec 3 clutch.
Moser 9" with 4.10 gears with weld on lca relocation brackets
G2 LCA's poly on one end, rod end other
adjustable panhard rod with double rod ends
Random Tech adjustable torque arm with -2 pinion angle
Stock Shocks/struts (I know this is hurting me)
Eibach sport line springs (this hurts too)
unhooked front swaybar.
I had 15x4 prostars up front, but they wont clear my C5 brakes, so running 17x9 SS wheels up front
15x8 prostars with 26x10.50 15 ET Streets with 12psi
I have tried launching from 2000 up to 3500 rpm and nothing seems to work.
I get the tires pretty hot, but it still just spins.
Any suggestions, my current best is 1.81.... not much better than when the car was stock.
Thanks
Stevie

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
Are you going on days when the track is prepped well or on street nights when most places don't do diddly except wipe off the drippings?
Definitely put some 90-10's on the front, grind the brakes and put on some lightweight wheels, go on a race day rather than a street night and watch the front end rise as you cut .3 or better off your sixty foot times.

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
I dont want to go the 90-10 route since I drive the car alot and try to autocross it some.
I have been running on test and tune nights, so that might be part of it.
The brakes, also I dont want to compromise too much since I drive the car the way I do...hard all the time. Them 13" rotors look good too....
I have an airbag to throw in the right spring, but I dunno if it'll help or not.
Maybe I just suck.

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
I run a 6 speed as well and cut 1.42 60 ft times In my full weight car.
I run the Hal/QAI Coil overs up front and the Hal/QA1 rear shocks and stock rear springs.
I have tubular rear control arms and pan hard bar and the same torque arm you have set at the same pinion angle.
Ditch the SS wheels and get those front runners on as well.
I don't have any LCA Relocation brackets on my car as well but I do run a 28x10.5x15 with a stiffer side wall since the stiffer side wall will help with the shock of a stick. The bigger tire helps too
If you run the Hal's/QA1's they have 12 different setting so you can adjust them for the track and for your auto crossing.
Another thing, check your tire pressure gauge to make sure it's accurate.
Mine went bad and when I checked it with my buddies mine was reading higher. I run my tires around 11 psi and do a nice John Force burnout. Don't leave the burnout box until you see some nice smoke rolling off the tires too

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
Get adjustable shocks. Go on a day when the track is prepped. Put the airbag in the right rear with 15 pounds in it.
I have stock rear shocks and springs, 90-10's with 12" of travel up front (adjustable). No fancy aftermarket lca's or torque arm, and 28 x 12.5 x 15 ET Streets. I can hook on just about anything, except a crappy old street night after the imports have been dragging water up to the line. Get a decent tire pressure gauge, or even a crappy one, especially if it is digital, and only use that gauge. It will be accurate to itself which is all you really care about.

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
Yeah, your heavy fronts and those Sportlines are hurting you. If you can I'd put stock springs back on. I run stock springs and shocks and my 60's are 1.55-57 all day long on M/T DRs, but I do use the 16x8s all around with both sway bars in place. I've also heard of some running 6 cyl springs in the rear, too with stockers up front...I think at a minimum I'd go back to stock springs..

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
My best so far na is 1.74 only suspension mods I have are lca's and relos and no front sway bar. 2800 stall and 3.42 gears. The rest of the stuff is stock 150k mile z28 parts. On a 150 shot coming on a 2600 rpms the best its done is 1.53. This is all on m/t dr's. So it can be done with out expensive shocks and springs
I'd say find a set of skinnies that will clear your front brakes and get those stiff springs out of there and you'll be good to go.
Also where do you run at? Have you tried a different track. I'm not entirely sure where you are at in NC but piedmont in burlington, fayetteville, and the rock have hooked for me this past year. How old are those tires.

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
I have been running Mooresville and took it to Farmington for the swap meet the first part of december. The car felt better at farmington, but I broke an axle gear, so I dunno if it was actually hooking up for once or what. I was pissed and didnt even pick up my slip to see what the 60' was.
Hoping to make it to rockingham some this year.
Anyone know what kind of front runner will clear C5 Corvette brakes?
I dont want to raise the car back up with stock springs, even though I know it would help alot...I am trying to do too much with the car I guess.
The tires are probably 2 years old, but have only had a couple passes on them.

Re: Help me get a better 60' time
what hole do you have the control arm in? when i put mine in the bottom hole it would shock the tires too much and wouldnt hook, moved it back up and now pull 1.6x all day long
Re: Help me get a better 60' time
What brand rear air-bag do you use for F-Bodies and where do you get them? I've seen them advertised somewhere on-line, but can't remember where. Don't recall seeing them in Summit, or Jeg's
Re: Help me get a better 60' time
I have the control arm in the bottom hole of the LCA bracket, but my car is lowered so I thought that is where I needed it.
I will try moving it and see what happens.
