Angry HELP! Car cannot launch for crap!

I just came back form the track (was my first time out) and my best run was a 14.3?! I could not launch the car at all because no matter how hard i tried it spun all the way through first. The 14.3 came on a run where i decided to accelerate normally til it shifted to second, then gunned it....what could be the problem? I stalled it to 1200, then accelerated....tires broke loose like they were not even touching the ground. What could i do to launch this beast?! Please help! Thanks.

im guessing you're prolly on the stock F1 radials or something simular??

first, i would try and do a VERY LIGHT burnout. in fact, i wouldnt even call it a burnout, you're just cleaning the tires off. turn them over literally a couple of times. you shouldnt see any smoke.

second, i wouldnt try and stall the car up any. the stock stall really amounts to nothing. leave off idle and either ease into it or feather it.

third, if you try 1 and 2 and that doesnt help, you could try and lower the air pressure in your tires a VERY LITTLE before step 1. you dont want to lower it too much with a radial, but a little might help.

lastly, make SURE your temp (water temp) is as low as possible when you pull up to the lights. let it cool before you get in the staging lanes and keep it off while you're in lines waiting. your car isn't as bad as an LT1 as far as heat soak, but it will definatly help to have you temp down.

if you still have no luck after all this....BUY SOME DR's!!

BTW, what were your 60fts??

Well, noone is perfect the first time out.
First, stock tires arent meant to hook in drag racing. Second, you need to PRACTICE. Third, were other cars hooking or spinning,if so,what tires did they use? Fourth,PRACTICE. Fifth,PRACTICE.

Basically it takes time to figure out how the car likes to be launched at the track, and that usually comes with (here's that word again) PRACTICE

i always ran my air conditioning while in the staging lanes, when you turn it on, it commands both fans on and cools quite well. hope this helps. prorac1. p.s. i ran the times in my sig on bald f1s, with a 2800 stall spining about 5 ft. with a stock converter, a little, i do mean little, tire spin usually helps.

when my car was stock i found it best to just leave off idle, gradually put the peadl down and wait a sec to give it full throttle. sounds to me like your trying to give it full throttle as soon as you launch. and you will spin through first everytime doing it that way. and just to ask your are pulling around the water right? make sure you do and just do a quick burnout to clean off the tires. i got a best of 2.0 60ft on stock tires doing it that way. hope this helps ya......
