Help

When I race (at the strip or on the street) I have a horrible launch, If I launch to high I spin, If I launch to low I bog. There seems to be no middle ground. I raced my friends 95 5.0 Mustang and lost from a dig. He is 5 speed and I am 6 speed SS with 3.23's my car is stock except for catback as is his. But from a roll I beat him bad. I need help.

Re: Help

At what RPM's are you spinning and what RPM's are you bogging? On street tires you might be out of luck, but a good set of Drag Radials should allow you to launch hard off the line with little to no spin.

Re: Help

3.23's with the M6? Different?! I think that would explain why it bogs.

I dunno, my only advice is to practise .

Re: Help

My bad I meant 3.42's. Should I go with 4.10's and Nitto's

Re: Help

Lets just say, 4.10's require Nitto's.

Re: Help

One change at a time. First get either Nitto's, BFG's, or Mickey Thompson's... Then practice. Basically the Mickeys will stick the best and wear out first, BFG's in the middle, and the Nitto's will last the longest but provide less starting line benefit. However they ALL work much better than regular street tires. 4.10's will make it more difficult to hook up and the 1-2 shift will happen very quickly.

I ran 3.73's in mine and thought it was a good balance of performance, economy, and they are stronger than 4.10's. However you have 3.42's and they should work fine at your level of performance right now.

Re: Help

Man learn to launch better, just slip the clutch out from 2500, those have resulted in my best 60' times, they still suck(getting nitto's for chirstmas), but a 95 shouldnt be too much trouble unless he is just has more than hes saying lol. Or you can just tell him that your car makes more torque than his and its harder to launch.
