Have a simple track question

My reaction time is really high because I don't react till the light is green. I have since been told to react on the last yellow. I haven't been to the track very much and I would like to know when does the "clock" start. When the light turns green or when you cross the starting line?

When to leave all depends on where you "stage" the car. If you stage "shallow" that means you roll the car in and stop right when the 2nd light comes on. If you stage "deep" then you roll the car in more even after the 2nd light comes on. Almost to the point of it turning off again.

If you go shallow, you would probably leave maybe on the 2nd yellow. It depends alot on how good your own natural reaction times are you kind of have to play with it.

If you go deep, the you wait untill about half way through the last yellow. Once again you have to play with it to suit yourself.

The race starts when the green light comes on. Your time doesn't start untill you start moving. If you have ever watched drag racing on ESPN or somthing, you somtimes see that the guy that ran the faster ET lost because he had a worse reaction time than the other guy who ran slower.

I hope that makes sense

Thanks for the reply. I think I got it now. So, if I sit at the line after the light turns green for say 10 secs and I don't move it isn't added to my ET, right?

best trick i ever learned.....i was getting .8XX and .9XX lights and someone told me to pretend the last yellow was green. as soon as u see light out of the last yellow light....punch it! i usually cut mid .5XX lights now like that...my first try EVER like that was a .601 light....good luck and have fun.
