Got my bone stock times.. Looking for tips to improve

Greetings all,

I just went out to Maryland International Raceway (MIR) yesterday and put my new bone stock 2002 SS to the test. I'm quite pleased with the results.

The first pass of the car's life yielded a 13.336 @ 104.37 on a 2.036 60'. Quite impressive, considering they were eagle GS-C tires. I stalled the converter at about 700rpms for this launch.

Track prep during the morning time was awesome. I hooked so well on the first launch I decided to hot lap it and try again. This time I stalled up to 1000rpms and launched. I was rewarded with my current bone stock best: 13.261 @ 104.96! I was in awe

I don't have a single modification done, and I was running at full weight (spare tire, seats, etc..). I'm hoping to make 12.9X with a lid, scoop, and cutout. Does this seem possible to do? Or will I be more likely to hit 13.1 or 13.0 off those mods?

What should most, if not all, A4 LS1's run at the track? I'm wondering if I don't have one of those freak motors or something. I wasn't expecting better than a 13.6 today, and neither was anyone else.

Just looking for some advice here.. Thanks as always.

awesome times man.......that thing is haulin *** for being bone stock. I sure wish I could get traction like that.....track prep sucks at my local track so I cant ever stall it up, I have to kinda feather it and then floor it to keep from breaking the tires loose. With a little weight diet and those mods you listed and the same track prep I think for sure you should get it in the 12's. Congrats.....and let the modding begin!

Sounds about right for a 01-02. My friend has a 02 Z28 with the ONLY mod as a cutout and he goes 13.2-13.4 @ 103-105. Nice times man.

Thanks guys. I'm still trying to figure out what the cheapest mod combo would be to get me into the 12's. I still sorta think a lid and cutout and cooler weather might do it for me. Guess I'll have to try it and see...

I'm looking into Nitto's. Would 275/40/17 nitto 555r's hook well enough for a bolt on LS1?

Great times dude! Seriously, for bone stock, that's really good. The 60' is where it's at.....the best I've ever had so far was 2.1 (see my sig). AFAIK, all '02 SS's w/A4 have 3.23 gears, so that will help out, but a 2.0 60' on street tires is great!

That is exactly what my friend is thinking/going for, go luck. It is very possible.

I've got a cutout on the car now. I just ordered are a DMH electric opener and an SLP lid. Next week will be the SSRA scoop, and hopefully by July I'll have some long tubes and nittos.
