got the 3.73's in

Got my car a week ago and i already have 3.73's in it. It's hard to tell a difference when the speedo is so far off. But i know it didn't squeel the tires shifting into 2nd (A4) very much if any. It's a 1996 Formula A4. Only mods so far are gears and SLP exhaust, Moroso Intake (in mail) and PCM tunning going in the mail monday. Hoping to break into the 13's.

did you go from 2.73s to 3.73s? if so the correct speed is about 3/4 what the speedo actually reads. do you have sticky tires on the back? mine breaks them loose at the drags fairly easily going into 2nd. with those mods you should be high 13s.

Yes it did have 2.73's in it. And the speedo is really far off. Not a problem cause i'm going to get my PCM tuned next week anyway. Yeah my car is an A4 and it squeels them pretty good shifting into 2nd. My goal is to get into the 13's.

mid to low 13's should be easy, those LT1 formys seems to run fast hence the lower poundage

mid to low 13s wont be accomplished just by what he has now, he needs at least headers and then sticky tires and/or converter.

Yeah i'll be hopefully taking it to the track either this weekend or next. I'm tired of wondering how fast it is.

I went form the 2.73's to the 3.73 and love it. Definalty reccomend having it dyno tuned so it wont shift erratically (A4 guys) The only problem i have is that i wish i could have done a shift kit at the same time becasue now the car shift into 4th by the time im going 40 on regular acceleration, and if i want to jump down on it, it only downshifts one gear to 3rd when if really needs to shift to 2nd for it to pull right. But other than that it was well worth it. The deadstop acceleration is quite different which it shoudl be. I cut .5 off at the track with the gears and dynotuning, The dyno tuining only befited me 10 rwhp and 15 rwtq but still well worth it. The gears went in a 99 formula with barley no mods and i ran an 13.02 at 107 with a 1.9 sixty foot. That wasnt even the best i knwo it could do, because that was the second and final run of that night due to someone blowing a tranny. I still had some pressure to drop in the tires and i was dead launching it, (I wanted to take it easy in the new rear for a while). so with another cold night and a few more runs i know ill be in the 12's.

Very nice times. If your only going 40mph your car should almost be shifting into 1st if you stomp it. I don't know how much the gears would have a change on the mph you'd be running vs rpm but I think 45mph and under WOT should get you 1st gear. Yeah I bet a shift kit would have resolved that.

Finally got my PCM back from Ion. Just put it in a few minutes ago. Can't really say i feel a SOTP power improvement, but no SES light and the speedo is right now and no shutoff so it was still a good deal.
