Going to the Track Friday

I'm planning to take my bone stock Z28 to the track Friday to get a baseline run in. Any suggestions for launching with the T-56? I have played around a little on the street and a fast slip at 1700 seems to work well. Also, what should I expect to run? I would really like to trap 100, how often does this happen on a stock LT1?

The only open track close to you will be http://www.newenglanddragway.com and this Wednesday will hopefully be the first open night of the season. Since the track has been closed all winter I wouldn't expect any traction at all as Wednesday and Friday are street nights (no slicks allowed) and they do not use any traction compound. If there is a track rental on Friday and you get there early enough you might hook up the first run or two.

Launching will be a lot of trial and error. My car began life as an M6. All I did was spin the tires until I got some drag radials and used about 20 pounds of air in them. I would do a quick slip of the clutch at around 1500 and see what happens to start and adjust up or down from there. Avoid lining up in anything that looks shiny at the starting line.

Yeah, I am planning on going to NED Friday night. I went last year with my Prelude in early April and the traction wasn't the greatest, I think my best 60' was a 2.3. What kind of 60' times should I be shooting for with a M6 on street tires?

On an unprepped track that has sat all winter, with no treatment, you will probably be fortunate to get a 2.2. I would love to be going but if I do it will be on Saturday when they allow cars with slicks to run.

Always try to do your best. On a well prepared track it is possible to get a sub 2.0 with street tires. The air may be good and 100 may be possible with a stock LT1 this time of year but you will need to find a way to hook up without bogging.
