Exclamation Going to the track for the 1st time tonight, tips?---

If I can find a buddy to go with me I think I want to race my 96z28 LT1. I am hoping to get into the 13's. The SES light is on , showing EGR and an o2 sensor, but at WOT that shouldnt matter right? All I have on the car right now is :

FPK K&N CAI
.030 overbore
mildly ported heads
underdrive pulleys
Granatelli MAF
Edelbrock Shorties
Mild cam ( just a little over stock , not sure of specs )
Centerforce clutch
Short Throw Shifter (6spd)
Flowmaster cat back and y-pipe (single cat)
3.73's
315/35/17 zr1's in the rear (worn tires, but they are the YOKO AVS's)
panhard rod
strut mount bar

Has 30K on the rebuild , but when I REALLY get on it I hear ( crunching sounds , like rocks crushing, lol ) is that just the clutch slipping? I also wish I had time for an oil change, its nearing 3K !!!

Well are there good shift points and a good launch rpm I should be aiming for? Thanks for the help....I just hope nothing breaks.....then I will be super happy as this is my DD , hahah

ps. I punch it on the 3rd yellow right?

pps. I was also told NOT to burn out with street tires, is that correct?!---

You have some great performance upgrades, however, the 17" street tires could be a problem with traction. I'll say 13.50 to 13.80! Let everyone know what you run.
