Going for 12.6xx's with bolt-ond only for LT1... Wish me luck!

Im looking to get into the 12.6xx's with just bolt-ons. Ive seenFrank run in the high 11's with bolt-ons and will be looking to head in that direction myself hopefully soon.

Last time at the track:

12.94 @ 104.60 MPH w/ 1.81 60 foot time. Race weight 3700 LBS, Nitto 555R's.

This time out. Added a Flowmaster Y-Collector and ran 3" Exhaust from it to the Cut-out. Picked up 15 RWHP and 16 RWTQ on the Dyno by doing only this. Also I have lost the 16" Nitto's and the 18" full chrome wheels I was using up front. I just purchased a set of Weld Draglights. 15 x 3.5 skinnies up front and 15 x 8 with E.T. Streets in the rear. I have taken out my rear seating since I will soon be adding a roll cage. For suspension I added BMR Tubular LCA's, BMR Boxed SFC's, BMR Relocating Brackets and V6 Springs. Also added a Trans GO Shift Kit.

Im hoping all the above will net me a .25 off my E.T. Im not asking for much I dont think, but we will see. Hoping to pull a few 1.70-1.75 60 foot times and get this bad boy around a 12.6xx's somewhere. Im going to the track tomorrow, so I will post my outcome here tomorrow night.

Had installed a Drag Air bag, but when everything was done and tried to fill it had a hole from the manufactuer. So I will have to wait until next time to have that on. Also hoping my race weight will be closer to 3625 LBS.

Luck? Heck I needed alot more than luck tonight. Maybe a hill with a 90 degree slope may have helped

Ran a best of 13.13 tonight. I can say I was more consistant but thats about it. 13.15,13.17.13.18,13.20,13.21, and a 13.22. With all my 60 foots being from 1.77-1.81. My MPH was right at 103.20-104.06.

Not sure what went on Same MPH, same 60 Foot times = .25-.30 off my best. Plus I got on the scale and the car has lost 100 Pounds, gained 15 RWHP, and all my suspension and Weld Draglights and I ran worse!

DAMIT DAMIT..... Bolt-ons-- You are gone. Time for something to give me some power!

Would you please post your 1/8 mile times?

The local track around me is an 1/8 mile one.

I will poist them up tomorrow. They are out in the car and it is late.

If I remember right the MPH at 1/8 mile was 81-83 MPH.

I will get the slips and post them up when I get home from work tomorrow.

What were the weather conditions like compared to the time that you ran the 12.94?

I was going to ask about weather too. That can play a big deal.

The weather:

It was clear and 50-60 degrees out. The day I ran the best of 12.94 it was around 40 degress out.

Could have leaned the car out a little more. The first run during the brackets I ran a 13.13 @ 97.52 MPH. I was up against an LS1 that dialed in at 12.23. My tree went down and off I went. By the time I hit the 1000 foot mark I was so damn far ahead of him I had to take my foot off the gas and coast to the line. He ran a 12.40 and I was still ahead of him when I crossed the line. I would have had to brake for him to pas me. Thats 7 MPH I lost but still managed to run a 13.13. Think that may have had a better outcome if only it was during qualifications.

When I get home tonight I will post some of my time slips.

I was jsut hoping to really cut some time off. Here was how I was looking at it:
12.94 and a 12.98.
Car weighed with driver 3700 LBS. I checked the scales last night and weighed in at 3595 LBS. I lost 100 pounds. Good for .1 I thought.
Next I had done some exhaust work and had picked up 15 RWHP. Considering the rule of thumb of 10 HP = .1 tenth off your time. With those 2 things I was hoping to knock off .2 total.
Now I dropped my 18"wheels and Nitto 555R's and went with the Draglights with skinnies and E.T. Streets. Added SFC's, Trans Go kit, LCA's, Relocating Brackets, and V6 Springs. I thought maybe this was good for .1 off also.

So I calculated that I was running 12.94-12.98 that given all the above done I shhould have ran a 12.65-12.75. Well it breaks down on paper for me just fine. But at the track it was a different story.

I spent $980 on the wheels, $50 on a dyno tune, $100 on Exhaust work, $500 on Suspension work. What did it get me? Added .25 to my E.T.

Next mod I do will NOT be some suspension mod or tuning mod. Screw this bolt-on crap. Time to really make a dent. Time for Nitrous or Cam and heads.

Good luck on your quest! You'd better get used to people accusing you of having a bottle, H/C or whatever. It gets to be funny after a while but it's annoying at first.

BTW, beautiful car!

Did the $980 include tires? Any back spacing problems w/ the rear wheels?
Thanks!
