Uhhhm, one minor problem I've found with using the 16" spare........there doesn't seem to be any tires available for it This sucks, well maybe I'll look into using the 15's instead

My bad - I was wrong. The tire/rim in my pic is 16", so I suppose none of the 15 in dia rims have the holes. Other than the holes and the 1" additional diameter, it's the same style rim as the 15 incher. I didnt look close enough an it fooled me.

Nathan, I've also got the 15" spare (without holes) out of my 93, which you can still have.

Thanks for your replies Everyone! I am happy to see I am getting more positive feedback now!
Gregg 97Z - those wheels turned out GREAT! You did an excellent Job, thats exactly how I would make mine look!

Ahh!..That solves the question, the rims with the holes are the 16s! I just hope I can duplicate those holes precisly enough! I was really just planning to do 8 holes, but with the assurance that 14 holes in the steel wheel is defintaly "Do-able"...I will try to get those holes as close to correct as possible!
And just to those Nay-sayers, who said holes wouldnt do anything...my solid 15" steel wheel (with 125/70 tires)was 29.5 and Greg's 16" steel wheel with holes, with a larger tire still weighed 2 pnds less. Thats enough proof for me! Thanks for the Info Greg!

And Tim!..Thats excellent! Are we still a go for Sunday!?

Can anyone with the 16" spare give me some measurements?!

1. The Length of the holes (bottom) to the Inner Lip?
2. Distance between the holes?
3. Length of Holes from the outer lip (top)

Thanks!
Nathan

Here you go:

The holes are 1 3/16 wide, are 1 5/8 apart, and they are 1" up from the seam between where the wheel meets the rim.

I decided I'm just going to get some pro stars and use the cheaper Pep boys tires. I just know I would hear some **** about this idea from some of my buddies anyway if I tried it, plus I have a feeling I'd get into an argument with the tech guys at Maple Grove every time I used em. I'm sure a lot of other tracks would pass it and I still think it's a good idea for someone on a tight budget but I think I'm just going to fork out the cash for some real wheels.

Gregg, FYI metal valve stems are required for 11.99 and faster.
