Smile First time at the track

My car is a 96 6 spd z28, only mods are under drive pulley, ewater pump, fipk CAI, and a borla catback, ran a best of 13.708 at 103.83 with a 2.2 60' (street tires...)

I am not really even that good of a shifter(been driving stick for about 6-7 months and never really bang the gears hard), but I think I did pretty good for my mods, ran at raceway park in englishtown new jersey.

My friend who has lid/catback ls1 (99 camaro a4 3.23s) with drag radials did a 13.454 @ 102.55 with a 2.041 60' so I think my car is a strong runner

My car weighs 3606 with me in it and a half tank of gas(full weight, jack and spare and all) btw

I had a great time, going to the track is so much better then street racing!

That is good for a mild bolt-on LT1 . Your buddy's car seems weak for an LS1 though.

I just had my "first run" the other night with the new (T56) setup . I'm pretty happy with what I got, considering A) I'm new with the 6-speed, B) I currently have 3.23's, C) I was only running street tires, and D) 2nd gear synchro is shot ...

... anyway, best run out of 10 runs was 13.402 @ 107.65, 2.152 60' time . That beats my best stock A4 w/2.73 time by a little bit, and that was only my 3rd run with the 6-speed!!

Next up, 3.90's and drag radials .

Keep up the good work ... you're well within LS1 territory with that time .

fixed it for you

but ya- those times are real good and right where they should be if not a bit stronger. bit more practice should be able to cut the 60' down to a 2.0 and shave another 3/10s or so off your 1/4.

Yeah, I know, but I always like to be different!! You know, run 4.10's with an A4, 3.90's with the M6 ... why not!?

Basically, I'm leaving myself room to go faster in the 1/4 mile without having to rev beyond ~6500 RPM, or running taller tires than stock. And my "theory" that perhaps they were 39 ring, 10 pinion tooth count was way wrong!! They're 43/11 instead (I thought having less teeth on the same size ring would be stronger, but as it turns out, these have MORE teeth on the same ring ... oh well ).

Yea, next time I got I am gonna have my headers/1.6 roller rockers in, hopefully some drag radials, and I hope for a low 13 :-) Hopefully launch alittle better and bang the gears faster... I've been beating on my car more though to practice shifting :-/ lol
