First time to the track...

I finally got my car down to the track for the first time friday night...My best run of the night was as follows:
r/t: .715 (Yes, I'm pretty disgusted too, lol...I had a brainfart, launched after I saw the greenlight instead of at the 3rd yellow...Needless to say this will be much improved next time I go)
60': 2.194
330: 5.978
1/8: 9.090
mph: 79.31
1000: 11.734
1/4: 13.967
mph: 101.34

Temp was 64 degrees, relative humidity was 0 and the absolute barometer was 29.17...My tires were/are pretty much bald and my car was at like 215 degrees when I ran despite my best efforts to get the damn thing to cool down...My only mods are a cai and I cut the exhaust off. So what do you guys think? Pretty good time or no? All things considered I thought it was pretty decent besides the R/T...

Those are pretty good times for what you have done to the car.

not a bad 60 ft for your first time. Get a fan switch and a 160 thermo. maybe even a bag of ice, the heat kills your times. That would be good for another tenth, maybe more with a better 60ft. The mph is positive it shows there more in the car.

Re: First time to the track...

My plan for te next time I go is to take out the rear seats, the jack, the spare...Possibly bring some bag of ice or something...I'd really like to get a 13.7xx out of it and like you said with a better 60' and a cool motor I think it just might be possible...What do you guys usually run your rear street tires at at the track? I was running them at like 31 psi (hot) for that run...I'm thinkin' I should have gone lower...They are pretty bald so I need all the help I can get. BTW those times are at Englishtown, NJ. Next time I think I might run at ATCO which is supposedly a faster track...

Re: First time to the track...

i would go 25psi for street tires. It will allow for more sidewall flex when you launch. Take the front seat out as well, its only four bolts and another 20 pounds or so. Also run with 1/4 of a tank of gas. I had my fully loaded 95 down 3200lbs, you need to maxmize your power with is least weight as possible. What you shave off your 60ft will be 1.5 off at the end of the track. If you cut close to a 2.0 60ft you'll run a 13.6 or maybe a 13.5. good luck

Yeah, I had a full tank of gas when I ran too...Maybe I will take that front seat out...I know I can do better on that 60' too...25 psi is assuming the measurement was taken with cold tires, right? When I ran it was at 31 hot. Ah man, I can't wait to get to the track again
