Re: first time at the strip..

wow, i definately feel better now, that almost looks like how my car did shifting itself! lol. the first run of the night in my car though the trans felt pretty good i must say, cause i heard a nice solid chirp when it hit second, a definate first at high rpms, dunno if it was track prep or if my trans screwed up and squealed but definately a squeal lol. anyway io should be able to see if something more sinister is wrong with my Z soon because the trans should be taken care of by the end of this week

Re: first time at the strip..

ah, my times arent off too badly then, when i get the trans shiftin i should gain at least a tenth, and if i get my 60' around 2.0 instead of 2.2+ then i could pull it down nicely to where it should be, but wait... what gears are in your cars? my fastest mp was about 77 in the 1/8, but like i said that was peggin the limiter in 2nd lol. anyways it should be down into the 8s when i get the car to shift... especially since the pcm will be retuned as well ... nvm gears arent off too bad m6= 3.42 :-p if everything works right and it hooks good i should get around an 8.8? 4 tenths below my fastest all night, i gotta get a better launch lol. cant wait to get it back to teh track after i get the trans shifting right
thanks for the times to compare to

i just now looked at your times further down the page, mine are right on with those, the 60' makes a big time difference even for 1/10 of a second... but those 9.3 and a few 9.2 is exactly what i was runnin all night in the 1/8 my mph were way out of wack from 73-77 though. i really need to get this thing back to the track, but it wont do any good until its shifting right

Re: first time at the strip..

I'm only doing a mod or two so that I can see what does what...
The traction off the line to the 60' is so important. The rest of the run is built off of that, barring any mechanical problems or a missed shift. My 1/4's are are not true as I was running bracket racing and I tapped the brakes before the line here and there to get a win but not to break out. But I did anyway on the last run.

I'm hoping to get to E-town this Saturday for Pontiac Show n Go. If I do, I'll post the timeslips on the page.

btw; I do run a manual fan when moving out of the staging lanes to the track. I noticed that this help keep me more consistent throughout the day.

Now If I get the R/T a hair better...

Re: first time at the strip..

6spd helps a lot if you can drive one really well, just not a whole lot of people out there that can, 9.0 is nice that should be a tad higher than what mine should run right now im thinkin it SHOULD be around 8.7 1/8.. hopefully gettin the 60' down and the trans to shift should get it there... plus ive got a new tune on the way from madZ28 cant wait to see how that turns out, (though this is also whats suppose to make my trans shift?? doubt it but hopeful cause i havent had my car for more than 2 days in a month ) that track day was one of the 2 lmao. but everyhting is looking up because hes strting to catch the drift that its not strong enough the more he looks at the info i bring him. which considering the cars getting redone next year held better catch on fast cause that stock trans wont take it. anywho, ill post up my times in a week or two when ig et to go again wish me luck (more luck with getting the trans fixed than anything this is getting old )
