First time out to the track with the new combo!

  • Also trapped 114 MPH on one of the runs.
  • Running on 2002 era Pep Boys Futura Z-rated 245/50-16 tires.
  • Spinning off the line, the 1-2, and the 2-3 shift.
  • Currently have a mail-order tune. Hope to pick up a bit more with a dyno tune.

WHY IS MY CAR SO SLOW!

Cause your 60' sucks. You know that.
Good mph for almost 90°.

Oh yeah. Horrible 60' and horrible tires. Their humidity is obviously off, it was humid as hell.

What trans have you got? do you have gears?

I see lots of engine mods/parts listed but no drive train or suspension.

Get that 60 down to 1.8 and your car could run 12.1 or 12.2.

You have enough MPH to run a high 11 with good air and traction.

I've got a T-56, Spec Stage 3 clutch, stock shifter, stock 10-bolt with 3.42's. Stock rear suspension, stock front suspension.

Lower control arms and a torque arm would help you a lot (and some sticky tires of course). I run a 115.5 or so N/A and low 12s which I would bet is about where you would be with my 60' times (1.7-1.8). Hooking is the hardest part about drag racing

Pep Boys... the leader in race winning rubber.

Find some junk ET Streets and try again. That 18 second terror "almost had you." As they say in Fast and Furious. Haha

You never had me! You never had your car!

Yeah, I want to throw some tires on there. I just fear for my rear.

Re: First time out to the track with the new combo!

there are some DR's that are less dangerous for your rear but will give you slightly better 60's. I havent had DR's in a long time but when I did I had a pair of nitto 555rs and they werent that sticky but they helped from street tires just enough to get me in the 1.9s.
