Finishing my suspension mods - Springs/Shocks, Bags/Sway Bar?

I am looking to finish off my suspension for my street/strip Z28. I currently dont have a rear sway bar since I wasnt going to work to get the stocker to fit the 9".

So starting fresh, wanting a NO SQUAT, WHEELS UP setup, where do I need to start? I was looking at the spohn 25mm or 3rd Gen 24mm rear sway, but it seems like there are two camps, airbag vs sway bar. Not sure off the benefits of each, although I will say I want the car to be decent on the street, I have OD for a reason, and driving without a sway seems to be slightly loose in the rear, but not uncontrollable. My best 60' time was 1.98 last time I made it to the track, that was with all the mods below and the Eibach Drag Launch kit, so I need help getting the 60's down.

Here is what I have:
1994 Camaro Z28: 383 Solid Roller - FMVB 4L80e 4000rpm stall- H/C LT1 - 9" w/4.11's & spool [Going on a diet next week]
Suspension: BMR Trak Pack, Hotchkis ADJ PHB, BMR Boxed SFC's, BMR 4L80e Trans Mount, Tubular LCA's, 1LE 32mm Front Sway Bar, Stock Springs and Shocks, No rear sway
Tires: [Strip] 15x3/15x8 ProStars Hoosier 26x10.0x15 D05 Drag Slicks [Almost gone now] [Street] 10 spoke SS wheels - Goodyear 275's

Anyone want to give me some tips on a street/strip setup, or a setup that can be converted from street to strip? I'd be willing to swap out the front spring/shock assembly if necessary, put the front sway back on, stuff like that.

Mind you I am on a budget just like alot of other people so I cant do a $600 sway bar with $800 shocks and lightweight brakes, etc. Might be able to spring for some Competition shocks and a wolfe drag bar though, just not sure how a serious antiroll bar is going to act on the street.

For a street ride put a 25mm anti-sway bar on the back, Addco or Spohn will do.
Then spring for QA1 double adjustable front shocks and drag springs.
Loose the front anti-sway when at the track or forever if you don't drive spirited twisties.
And most important of all use good drag tires at the track.

Well since I'm on a budget, I picked up a 3rd Gen 24mm, pretty close to a 25mm, but $140 cheaper. I have slicks for the track, so that shouldnt be a problem, no it's on to the shocks and possibly front springs.

I was thinking about picking up rear air bags to help out my street bar, and since I havent signed sponsor paperwork with QA1 yet.

Air Bags anyone?

That would be air bag, singular. One in the right rear at 22PSI.

Well I'm putting an order into Summit and I wanted to get over $500 for the Summit card deal. I'm about $100 short, and that's with BMR relocation brackets and an expensive Trick Flow intake elbow. Both I dont really need that bad. I figured some airbags might help my 3rd Gen 24mm bar.

Any other parts I should be looking at? QA1's and springs are kinda out of my budget for now. I could maybe only do fronts used. Or some competition engineering rears. I'll be needing new drag radials soon also, but I wanted to see how the car ran on 26" Hoosiers before going with another set. Probably MT DR's.

I'm open to suggestions.

It's strange you mention 22PSI, that's what I wound up going with when I use the nitrous. Before that it seemed like 15PSI was plenty for my NA runs.

summit offers a cheap rear drag shock. I think they are 30-40 bucks, a few people use them but i would question the quality because of the price.

Search on summit's site and you should find them.

The front shocks are more important than the rears, I have seen 1.3 60's on stock rear shocks and springs. The Qa1's are a nice setup so find a used set and youll be ready to go. Later Clint

If you are on a budget......get a used pair of 6 cylinder shocks and springs for the front.

I've read that a few places, that the front needs the attention more. What pound springs are the LT1 guys using? I know they have 275, 300, 325. Which shocks QA1 R's?

Yea, I saw those. Used QA1's/springs would be in my budget, not AFCO's though Problem with used QA1's is many times they need rebuilt. I used to have a full set of QA1's with springs, but an EX- G/F threw them out during a break up '

Z-RATED94 - What's your setup and 60's?

I'll pick up some BMR relocation brackets. I dont think I'm in the relm of adjustable LCA's yet. You guys think a 24mm-15/16" bar out back should be enough to start with or should I invest in some airbags? I know drag bars would be the real solution and UMI does have a sale on drag bars for $310. I even thought about buying a wolfe bar, but I don't want to have problems cruising on the weekends...Actually if you start adding up costs for airbags[$75], sway bar[$50], sway bar kit for 9"[$75], bushings[$25], and I'm only $75 short of a drag bar...

Think relocating the battery to the trunk is worth it while the everything is out?

Don't laugh, but my car sits on Eibach Pros and stock shocks. Double diamond KB sub-frame connectors, non adj. control arms, relocation brackets, Spohn chassis mounted adj. TA, single adj. PHB, and an air bag in the right rear. NA it ranges from 1.61 to 1.64 60 ft. On the bottle it's been a best of 1.47.
