Finaly got 12s tonight

Finaly got a 12 out of the old bolt on 93 TA, goal I have wanted to get for a very long time since high school actually, almost 7 years. The car was left stock up untill about a year or two ago so thats why it took so long to get the time, I ran it as it is on the street, no front sway bar, only change was with the QA1s being set set at 2, but it still had the WS6 wheels up front and even had 3/4 tank of gas! Didnt even notice that, usally run with less gas. The weather was in the 40s with a strong head wind.

The Timeslip Looked like this

RT .407
60 1.72
1/8 8.1@83
1/4 12.8@102 < --- This car has NEVER trapped good but always seems to ET well so I dont care really.

I am now done with bolt ons, have bought a nitrous kit and looking to go 11s, I may best this run down the road with skinnies and less gas but other wise, dont really think its worth it to try and go faster with bolt ons, might as well just spray it. I may do some little things to it down the line and try to maybe get a 12.5.

83mph in the 1/8th should bring you higher than 102mph in the 1/4th. What rpm are you crossing the traps and what gear?

Neil350,

Congratulations on becoming a member of the 12 second club! I know it takes some hard work and a few bucks to get down into the 12s with a bolt-on LT1, F-body (been there, done that). What track in Texas are you running at? Up here in Oklahoma we had some ice and snow last week, so it looks like our racing season is over for this year.

Thanks man, it took some time to get it, dont know what the RPM was. The car never trapped good, but ET seems like it should so oh well. I ran the car at Baytown, Houston raceway park.

I have a Vigi 3200 in the car, the car has WS6 wheels and that run was with a 3/4 tank of gas. Maybe with skinnies, 1/4 tank of gas, same 60 foot and similar weather it could get a little quicker, but I dont think it would go really any faster than a 12.5. Unless I was willing to pull a lot more weight out, do more bolt ons and gears but that costs some change to get such little gains back. I plan to put my nitrous kit on and shoot for 11s.

Drives fine, if your not ripping and never driven an LT1 before with a stock stall you wouldnt even know if it was there. I still have the stock 3.23s also

I had a Yank torque thrusters 3200 stall in my 97 and it ran pretty normal unless you were leaving a street light. Took a little more gas to get her moving but man did that 3.0 STR make it nice.
