Drag with the speedometer?

Just wondering if any of you guys have the speedometer connected on your cars. Mine goes up to 120 but I am afraid if I connect it I might break it. I use the car mostly on the street and it is currently not connected. If I go to the track with it connected and go over 120 do you think I will break it......

I would like to connect it and use it on the street but I don't want to break it....

any thoughts?

Mine is unplugged. I never bothered to calibrate it for gear ration so it read 155 when I was going 65 on the highway. It would peg easily but it worked. Mine is electronic however...

Back in the olden days I had a new 72 Cutlass with a 120mph speedo that I pegged many times with no ill effects.

Buddy of mine has the stock 85 mph speedo hooked up in his malibu.....car runs mid 9's on the track in the ballpark of 140ish.

Speedo still works fine on the street, and he never disconnects it.
